A lot of functionality in a small package
The oximeter arrived in a glossy coloured cardboard box with no tamper proof seals and an inner cardboard former. The contents comprised:-
    – The oximeter itself in a soft plastic bag for protection.
    – A fabric lanyard in a small plastic ziplock bag This attaches to a hole in the oximeter and includes a clip to easily attach and detach the oximeter from the lanyard.
    – Two AAA batteries in shrink film. These had Chinese labelling so I could not see if they were alkaline.
    – A black and white glossy folded A4 sheet user manual. This is in English only. It is very comprehensive and well written.
The oximeter is turned on by pressing the single button. It shuts off automatically after 8 seconds when there is no finger present. When running, pressing the button cycles through all the display options. The display is small, but has a high resolution and is in colour.
A long press of the button enters menus where you can configure language, alarms, a bleep for pulse, brightness and data analysis. The latter allows the device to record readings over a period of time, then display the results as a graph or statistics.
Overall, this device seems to be robust and good quality. It is very straightforward to use with a surprising amount of functionality.
    highly recommended.

Good Pulse Oximeter, Mind Boggling Instructions
A close relative has recently had a major operation and I wanted this Pulse Oximeter to check their heart rate and blood oxygenation. The display is very clear and the readings start almost immediately after the finger tip is inserted. I think for anyone who is unwell or has a health concern, this little gadget is indispensable. If you understand what the readings mean that is. I have knowledge of what a regular heartbeat is and a safe blood oxygen saturation. However, if you don’t, you’re not going to find the answer in the ridiculously complicated instructions pamphlet. They’re mind boggling to read and for the most part utterly irrelevant.
I don’t know what the PI (Perfusion Reading) on the display is for, and the only way I’ll find out is by searching for the answer online. I thought that the instructions would be clear and helpful, but there is nothing to help you understand or interpret the readings in there whatsoever.
You can change the display, though how to do that is not explained. Hint, I found that if you press the power button once and slightly to the left or right the display will change to how you want it.
Hold the power button down and you can scroll through a menu. Here you can choose to save data or make the screen brighter.
The device itself appears to be well made and accurate, having tested it out on family members several times and compared our readings. I have no quibble with the manufacturing. It also comes supplied with two AA batteries so that it can be used straight away.
If you just want to quickly check your heart rate and blood oxygen, this is a very good device for doing that. Any further analysis probably requires a medical degree because it’s frankly unfathomable. I’ve asked family members to read the instructions and they are as flummoxed as I am. I’ve still given it a high rating however, because for my purposes, it does what I need and I feel reassured that it works as it is supposed to.

Make your heart skip a beat with this easy to read pulse oximeter
This pulse oximeter is a dream to use; it gives you a reading in 5 seconds, and the results are clearly displayed on the screen, which makes the readings easy to understand.
The screen can be viewed in 4 directions, which makes it perfect for if you are feeling unwell and you are lying down or on your side.
I really like that it clearly displays the amount of battery remaining, which means that you get prior warning and don’t have to worry about the pulse monitor suddenly running out of battery when you need it most.
The pulse oximeter comes with a 12-month warranty, which is reassuring should you encounter any issues with your purchase.
This pulse oximeter is on the higher price range; however, I think it is well worth the price of £16.99, as it’s lightweight and compact without compromising the clear and easy-to-read acute results. I highly recommend everyone have these in your home, as you never know when you may need to monitor your heart rate and/or oxygen levels.
Wee tip: I know it seems silly to use the lanyard, but it honestly helps with not losing the pulse oximeter and makes it easier to get out of your bag in a hurry. The lanyard also means that you can hang it up somewhere handy to make it easy to reach. I did find it a little difficult to get the loop of the lanyard through the hole; I ended up having to use a pin to guide it through.

This is one of the first things that gets checked when I go to see the doctor (after weight of course). The nurse is always announcing my weight but doesn’t seem to care too much about this test. So it is nice to be able to check it at home.
I knew that you could buy these because I had bought one for my parents during the pandemic, for their self-health check, in case of illness. To me, these home devices offer peace of mind if you are coming up with constant results and office visits are going well.
The lights are bright enough to read results. It works as it should and is quick about it. I thought it was funny you could adjust the orientation of the results – as I accidentally did that several times before I got the hang of it and chose one.

I compared this to a hospital grade Pulse Oximeter, I put this on one finger and the other on a different finger.
The results I got with this meter were zero to 1 % higher SpO2 than the hospital grade ones I tried.
The results for the pulse rate were the same.
A greater than 1 % difference can be caused by taking a deep breath or positioning your arm at a different angle.
This pulse ox only has one button, you use that button to turn it on, change the display orientation, and change the settings. This works OK once you get used to how to make changes and enter them.
It is a long press to enter the menu and enter changes, and a short press to change display orientation or change settings.
There is no button to turn it off, it just does an auto power down when it is not taking a measurement.
The use of common AAA batteries is nice, no need to find expensive Lithium coin cells.

This is a good basic oxygen and heartrate monitor. It’s very similar to many others at similar price points, so there are few things that I liked about it that made it stand out. The main thing that I liked was that it was comfortable on the finger and seemed to hug it better than others I’ve tried. It also very quickly started readings – I’ve had oximeters in the past where anyone with cold fingers or rough skin had trouble getting it to start reading – this one seemed to compare better than most.
First impression opening the box was that I wished this were rechargeable instead of requiring two AAA batteries. I also was glad that I caught that unlike most battery-operated products, the batteries go in the same direction in this unit, instead of the usual one up / one down configuration. I’d pay extra to have a rechargeable unit so I wouldn’t have to worry about keeping new batteries around.
Operation and fit of the unit was okay. You open these by squeezing like a clothespin. Depending on what finger you’re using and your position, you also can press the button during a reading to rotate the display to face up, down, left, or right so you get the best view and readability.
In summary, this oximeter gets points for accuracy and comfort, and I think is well worth the cost. You’ll find cheaper units, but I think the fit and accuracy and ease of getting a good connection make this a winner.

This pulse oximeter is easy to use and seems to work reliably. It does seem to have some issues reading from cold fingers that other oximeters dont have issues with, for example after a run in freezing temperatures this unit refuses to take a reading. It identifies that a finger is inserted/removed but will not read SPO2 or pulse while another unit reads both immediately.

I already own two other $10 pulse oximeters, but I’ve never been convinced they were reading right. Recently I had a home sleep study, where the hospital sent me home with a high-end machine, and comparing against that I was finally able to confirm just how far off the readings from both of mine really are. One is consistently okay for pulse but not oxygen, and the other is exactly the opposite. So I decided to try this $16 model from Yohcuro instead. It consistently gets both right, and does it quickly. It also takes plethysmogram and perfusion index readings, which neither of the cheaper models do. Another great feature it has over the others is that it can store up to 8 hours of results. Now I wish I’d spent the extra $6 to get this one in the first place!
