Bright and a tad bitter
The tea is quite fragrant as soon as you open up the pouch, even more so when properly brewed. The leaves are very green, seem to be fresh, and of good quality.Overall, I’d describe the notes as bright and a little bitter towards the end. For someone who is new to green teas, or prefers things less bitter, this sencha could be a good fit as it does lean towards a lighter taste.Since it’s been rather hot lately, I’ve been letting this slow-steep in the fridge with cold water to have as an iced tea instead. It doesn’t take away from the taste at all and still retains that bit of bitterness.

Wonderful green tea flavor
This organic, green loose-leaf tea has a wonderful flavor that is not bitter. The green tea flavor is strong and satisfying. I added 3 packets of Equal Sweetener for a delightful cup. Since this is loose-leaf tea, I place the leaves into a tea ball and then add boiling water. The tea comes in a resealable bag.

good tea, confusing label
This TOMOSAN Organic Sencha – Loose Leaf Japanese Green Tea is organic and from Japan. I brewed it like I would any green tea (lower temp, short time steeping) and the flavor had the subtle grassy notes but kind of ‘one note’ overall. The leaves seem very fresh and I like that the packet can be resealed.The confusing part is the ‘Nutrition Facts’ on the bag states the entire contents contain 49 grams of carbohydrate and 24 grams of protein (along with a few minerals). I’m assuming this could theoretically apply if you ‘eat’ the leaves and perhaps this information is given due to labeling rules in Japan.Overall a nice tea which I will likely steep for a bit longer to bump up the flavor.
