Great kit, useful not just for 8+ but also …
Great kit, useful not just for 8+ but also for GCSE and IGCSE physics. I like the way you can build up the components of a motor and see why the magnets make a difference, for instance. Components feel solid and fit together well. Instruction booklet is great and streets ahead of the usual standard, with clear explanations. This kit ended up being indispensable in our KS3 science group when an alternative kit, ordered from a university science supplier, was hard to use.

Very well built and enjoyably educating
I got this for my 10 year old son and we really enjoyed working with it. The parts are well made and solid. The instruction manual is very well written and gives very interesting historical background to the experiments. I’d recommend highly.

Excellent bit of kit for learning on
Excellent bit of kit for learning on. Simple but very effective. Even as a technician teaching my young one I still learned something. Worth the money

Ideal present for children interested in science
As a birthday present for my son, this had him jumping with excitement. He loves magnets and electricity. This should keep him quiet for a bit.

Rather basic
I purchased this for my 8 yr old Grandson, the kit comes with a handheld wind up generator, a bulb in a holder a battery holder and two connecting wires. Whilst it is educational and interesting there really is not much you can do with it. I think for the cost it should have more equipment.

Very good for my kids (14 years old girl and 9 years old boy) to have practical understanding of very basics of electrical engineering. I have helped them to assemble and able to show them what is gear ratio, what is commutator brush DC Motor and what is DC generator with the kit. Also a nice feature when you remove the red and blue magnets then neither the generator generates electricity nor the motor runs. The toy is not that you build generator or motor on your own hand. Rather it is assembled rotor with 3 commutators and two terminals which can be mounted with plastic gears and permanent magnets to act as BDC motor or generator. The assembly is very easy and it takes maximum 5 minutes for me and 10 minutes for my kids.
