Very happy with our Tapo robotic vacuum and mop
Very happy with our Tapo robotic vacuum and mop. It is our first robotic cleaner and its performance has exceeded our expectations. We have other Tapo/TP-Link smart things and we have always found Tapo devices easy to control from the Tapo app and set up voice control from Alexa and Google. We did regularly vacuum our house before using a Dyson vacuum and were surprised at just how much dust the Tapo vacuum still managed to suck up – testimony to the efficiency of the vacuum. I had been thinking of getting a robotic cleaner for some time but were put off by the cost and sceptical about its ability to clean a room with a lot of obstacles. The LIDAR mapping/navigation system is well worth the extra cost that makes this Tapo so much more versatile than basic robotic vacuums. There are many ways of setting the cleaner off on its tasks ranging from the low tech pressing buttons on the cleaner itself through to voice control with Alexa or Google Home. However, to make use of all the features available we use the Tapo app to review remotely the cleaners progress, read reports on all its activities (area cleaned, time taken, status of brushes etc) and set routines/schedules for cleaning various rooms and zones in our two-storey house. We have three cleaning schedules each week; (1) Vacuum all downstairs; (2) Mop all downstairs hardfloor areas and (3) Vacuum all of upstairs (which is mainly carpets). Spot and indivual room cleaning can easily be added to the weekly routine as and when need. We tend give our kitchen/dining areas more frequent cleans.The LIDAR mapping was simple to initiate but it took a week or so for us to get familar with how to best use maps/rooms/zones. Initially, I kept losing maps that had been created and edited (setting no-go zones, no mopping areas, virtual walls etc.) but that was because I played around with all the features such as remote control (where you can control the route of the cleaner in real time from the app) or spot cleaning. Two weeks on we are still very happy and have developed an understanding of how to best use the room maps the Tapo cleaner creates.My wife was less convinced than me about the need for a robotic vacuum but the efficiency of the cleaning and my greater involvement in the household cleaning has won her over! My only criticism is the lack of up-to-date information that comes with the product on setting up voice control using Alexa and Google Home.

A Valuable Product to make my Life easily
The hardware spec is stronger than others (4200Pa Hyper Suction, 5000mAh battery, Real-time Reporting and etc) at the similar price point. The software is merged into the Tapo APP (it is good as I used the Tapo smart plugs and cameras and I don’t need to download a new APP) and the setup is easy.Underlined: but the big robot vacuum is not a plug in and play product. Although it can build the map by its LiDAR smartly. I would still recommend the new user would still better to check the user guide carefully, collect the cables untouched, and setup the map according to the real environment (a virtual wall, no-go zone, etc). Then you can leave it a go. Enjoy your life! 🙂

Dead within a year… Planned obsolescence?
Initially after I bought this robot vacuum, I was delighted. It was quick, efficient and was able to pick up a lot of the pet hair in my home.HOWEVER, after just 8 months, it has given up on hoovering entirely. Battery is fine, LiDAR is still working, sensors are clear, but the robot refuses to go and do it’s job!Very disappointed and a waste of money as Amazon wants nothing to do with it outside of their return window. Avoid!
