I must give credit where credit is due. This is by far the best Dash Cam out there. The clarity on the playback is just astounding. I love the app, easy to naviagte. Im putting in an order for a second unit for my back window. I can never go back to any other resolution lower than 4k now. BTW Support come back to you almost instantly. Well done Road Angel.

No control over it’s functions
I bought this going by some of the reviews, a good quality picture is the only good thing about it, it constantly takes pictures whenever there is a bump in the road, speed bumps for example, always taking pictures, downloading footage is also a misery, thumb clips you can’t make head nor tail of.
Avoid and stick to Next Base, I’ll be putting my old camera back in.

Okay dashcam, terrible app
I bought this after weighing up between the nextbase and this. Reading the reviews and the which award, along with it not having a display swung it for me. I hardwired it into the fuse box so it does look the part being subtle. However the usability is terrible. The app is painfully slow to use and all the 3 minute clips take well over 3 minutes to download to the phone to view them. Also, the car monitoring is rather pointless as when you go back in the morning there are multiple videos that would take hours to go through. I have spoken to road angel who inform me that there is no update planned. If I knew this now I would have gone for nextbase.

Great Dash Cam. The Road Angel Halo Ultra is a really good unit. Good quality construction. Works first time unlike the Nextbase 300W I bought first which was terrible. This is a small neat unit, also went for the hard wire kit which was super easy to install. Has lots of configuration options, I personally turned off the AI bit on the camera that detects obstacles and people as I prefer to keep it simple. But overall very happy with it. Definitely recommend.

Firstly the physical side of it – it’s a cool-looking unit. Very sleek and well-made. Installation wasn’t easy in my car though – placing it to the left of the rearview mirror as they suggested, resulted in a view skewed to the left. So I tried to get it under the mirror as close as possible. The transparent film supplied ended up with lots of bubbles in it – it didn’t go well! The 3m sticky pad sticks like anything so I wouldn’t want to try to remove it from the glass, I think something might snap. Another winge – it’s supplied with a lighter socket plug, but no pass-through, so that might prevent you from charging phones etc if you’ve only one socket as I have. I wish they’d give you the option to have a hardwired kit instead. Lastly, the mount flexes vertically, but not left/right, which would be helpful if mounting offset at all.
I knew this didn’t have a removeable SD card, but I thought you’d be able to plug it in to a laptop and copy videos over. Not so. You have to use the WiFi to your phone, via the app. This means going into your phone settings and changing WiFi to connect to the camera. Then it takes ages to copy video over at about 4kbps. When you’ve done so, it’s split into loads of 10-second clips, that’s not apparent from the app. You’re stuck in the car throughout this process, as the camera needs to be plugged in. You could remove the camera and take it inside, but it’s held fairly firmly in it’s mount so it’s not easy. So then, to get it onto the laptop, to check the image on a decent screen, it’s via plugging your phone into the laptop, or cloud services, more downloading and waiting etc. It’s just too cumbersome, so I’m returning it. It’s a shame as the video quality looks to be excellent. Oh, it doesn’t support the addition of a rearview camera by the way, it’s just standalone this one.
