Great way to track the dogs activity
Having a puppy, we wanted to make sure he was getting the right amount of exercise. This gizmo and it’s app are great.Simply touch the button and the data is uploaded within secondsThe app itself runs a little slow, but the amount of info is great. Play, sleep, pottering and running are very accurate. It’s neat and hardly noticeable on his collar. Well worth it.

Valuable and useful insight into your dog’s activity
I bought our PitPat on recommendation of a friend who used his to manage the daily activity of his working Cocker Spaniel. Initially we bought ours out of curiosity but when our dog Tolly began to fall ill as a puppy it was useful to be able to present a decline in his activity to the vet. Tolly was diagnosed with a form of meningitis which he suffered 7 times in his first year. Now symptom-free and in remission from the disease the steroid course had taken a toll and saw his weight go up from 26kg to 31kg. He was put on a weight management plan with a metabolic diet, but it was the exercise, combined with the information provided by the PitPat that made the difference. He lost 4kg in 6 weeks which the veterinary nurse just couldn’t believe, but when I showed her the data from the PitPat on the phone app she was really impressed with it.PitPat is a brilliant product – so easy to use once set up, looks great (people often ask what it is), is super light-weight and very small so it doesn’t get in the way of Tolly’s activity. We have it attached to his harness, so it only records the formal exercise he does. He doesn’t wear a collar because his fur is taking a long time to regrow after a lumbar puncture. We love the awards and badges Tolly picks up from PitPat in recognition of the work he is putting in and as a bit of a gadget geek I love the detail of the data provided. The accuracy of the device is of course difficult to gauge but in day-to-day comparisons it is easy to spot progress – and big achievements!

Helping our dogs health as well as making paid dog walker accountable and identifying scam
We purchased a Pitpat because we were concerned about our pets increasing weight, despite being walked for a minimum of 1 to 1.5 hour per day by a professional dog walker, plus walks we would do as a family. Despite this our dogs weight was ever increasing. We checked Pitpat accuracy against walks we did as a family and it was 99% accurate re walks, running, pottering etc. We advised our dog walker that dogs fitted with an activity tracker, it turned out our paid dog walker who we used for a number of years, was actually during the week only walking our dogs for only 10 to 20 mins with rest of time in back of their van, whilst they collected or took out more dogs. This dog walker had been recently rated by our local authority as excellent !!. So Pitpat is now helping us get our dogs healthy and it has helped us identify an unscrupulous untrustworthy dog walker, who we have now finished with. Maybe not want PitPat was intended for, but it can be used to help weed out those unprofessional dog walkers. We told our dog walker our dog had activity tracker on collar, but they just did not appear to be clued up, as to what PitPat can do. For those who use paid dog walkers, a PitPat may give added assurance to pet owners, particularly as dog walkers in the UK operated in a quite unregulated industry the UK. We are glad we purchased the PitPat, saddened our trust has been abused by this dog walker, but at least now we can get our dogs on a healthy path, check their actual exercise, which we thought they were actually getting each day, but were not. On the negative, we do find the App falls over from time to time, but overall it is good.

    Great monitor
Love our PitPat which we actually bought in January 2020, I just realised I had forgotten to write a review. It really is amazing how far your dog can cover in a day – and explains why they sleep so much! We have found it so useful, and it’s interesting to see how many miles he does when we go off lead walking. We were also really happy to see that when he goes to the dog minder, he can cover 7 miles in a day just playing with her dogs within the confines of her garden. He loves to stick his head in snow, hedges and bushes, has been swimming, has chased squirrels and rabbits through the woods – the PitPat has survived the lot, to say it’s been put through its paces in 12 months is an understatement. It’s very light, attaches to the collar by a strong velcro strap, has never come off despite his headlong adventures and easily washed, we just do it quickly in soap and warm water, wipe dry and leave somewhere warm.I had to contact customer services recently thinking there was problem with the PitPat, but it turned out it was just a new battery that was needed, our first one in over 12 months. I had a quick response from them and all was sorted in a matter of hours. It’s well worth the money, great that you can have some fun without a compulsory subscription. Great fun!

2.5 years later & its still working fine! I have replaced the battery once & the velcro 2x. My dog averages over 11 miles per day & as mentioned below is ACTIVE, swims, hikes, hunts. Great little productI didn’t have high expectations for this product but thought it would be fun to see the active periods for my dog, particularly on the days I am going back into the office. I used the velcro to strap it on to his collar and figured it would fall off in a few weeks as he is very active, spends lots of time in water/swamps/mud including distance swimming as I kayak, is out in all weather, we hike, train for K9 work, etc. Over 4 months later including a long beach trip where he was in the sea for hours each day, it remains secured on his collar, it still works (even after all the swimming), distance tracking is fairly accurate (I have a GPS unit for his offleash work) and it improved with use.For the one-time fee this is a great product, it won’t locate your dog (there is no gps) but it does function well as an activity tracker. It allows me to see his activity patterns and its fun to see his averages and ‘big’ days.Fun product that can stand up to a lot. My dog has certainly put it to the test and I sure didn’t think it would still be functioning at this point
