Q. What are the most popular bird seeds to use?

This is a lovely addition to the garden though I put some clingfilm under the roof key to reduce water ingress. The squirrels that visit my garden have also worked out how to feed without triggering the guard! Still like the product tho

Arrived safely with no damage to the product itself despite very little protective packaging and a badly damaged external box that had been sellotaped back together on the damaged sides and corners. Please note the wind vane shown on top is actually a fixed item and does not move in the wind. A nice product that looks good and which the birds enjoy feeding from.

Birds will not use it
Very well made and looks great, but after six weeks the birds will not use it. I don’t know why; I suspect the land and see the seed through the windows but cannot get at it. They simply do not peck seed from the trays below the windows. I’ve even tried blocking the windows so the birds are not distracted by the sight of seed they cannot get…but nothing seems to help them to eat. A waste of money.

I know we have had a lot of rain but you would think the roof of this birdhouse would be waterproof but no. So everything in there gets wet and moudy. So glad i didn`t fill it full. And yes I have put the roof on properly every time. It is now in the bin.

Optisch fand ich das Futterhaus sehr ansprechend. Ein Blickfang! Es ist gut verarbeitet und es passen locker 3 Kg Sonnenblumenkerne rein – für mich war es ein wichtiges Kriterium, um den Vögeln Futter bieten zu könne, auch wenn ich einige Tage verreist bin.
Das Dach hätte vorne etwas länger sein können. Die Schlitze sind ungeschützt und es empfehlt sich nicht, vor allem in der Regenzeit, das Häuschen mit geschälte Körner voll zu machen.
Ich würde es dennoch wieder kaufen. :o)

The woman who lived in our house before us was a bit of a bird fanatic, so our backyard has become bird central over the years. I’ve grown fond of my feather visitors as well, so I figured I should get them a bigger and nicer feeder since the small one she left behind when she moved needed to be refilled daily.
I tend toward a rustic, cottage/country vibe in my decorating, so I wanted a feeder that had some uniqueness and charm to it. After looking at many, many (expensive) feeders, I stumbled across this gem, and I just love it! The color is just as rich and red as pictured, and the whole thing is made out of high quality steel. As soon as I took it out of the box, I squealed because it is so nice for the money! It’s not huge, but it will hold quite a bit of seed, certainly enough to feed my birds for at least a week on a half-full basis. It’s heavy enough not to flail around in a breeze (and it made it through the recent swathes of severe storms without spilling any seed) but not too heavy that a good hook or branch couldn’t easily support it.
There weren’t any directions in the box I received, but after a little investigation, you twist the weathervane on the top to unlock and remove the roof to refill. There was also this random red piece of plastic in the box which I determined was for post mounting, if you so choose.
As for the weight-sensitive bar, there is a small wire toggle on the side that you can set to accommodate different bird weights, but there were no directions, so I winged it (excuse the pun). They all felt about the same to me, but no matter which you choose, they will all be too sensitive to accommodate those sneaky, feed-pilfering squirrels. This morning I spied a wren feeding with no issue from it, so your songbirds should be happy at any rate.
I read another review that expressed concerns about water leakage and subsequent mold growth, but since ours is hanging from a hook under the lip of our covered patio, it’s not really an issue for me, so I can’t speak to that due to my special circumstances.
Overall, I would most definitely purchase this again and again. Its finish should last a long time, especially when covered as mine is, and my birds will be fat and happy all year long.

Feeders. Love the look of the barn. No plastic at all. Size is very nice. Great value for the price
