80 yr old loves it!
I realize this is supposed to be for smart children, but this has been great for an 80-year-old trying to keep her mind sharp. I bought it because it actually had the answers in the back so I can really learn and make sure Iâm doing the things right. Recommend highly for young and old.

Fun!
I got this to keep my daughter sharp over the summer months and she’s enjoyed it so far. She thinks the puzzles in this book is fun and enjoys it more than other workbooks I’ve purchased for her.

This book drove me bonkers
My daughter liked some of these puzzles, especially the matchstick moving ones. However, as someone who teaches logical inference at the university level: many of problems require leaps of intuition beyond the information in the puzzle. (Which is problematic for teaching logic, because logic is very much about NOT relying on intuition.)For example, one of the pattern recognition puzzles had six random shapes and then a blank. The “correct” answer is that the 6-shape pattern starts again and the next shape should be the same as the first in the series. But there is not actually any logical reason to assume a pattern from the given information.Similarly, a logic puzzle on aliens and their favorite earth food says that a certain alien “loves breakfast foods.” It does not logically follow from this information that his favorite earth food is pancakes (which is supposed to be the correct answer). It is possible to love breakfast foods and prefer, say, pickles, which is another answer. Plus we definitely can’t rule out pancakes as the favorite food of the alien with the sweet tooth. Also…there is a set of analogy problems that uses letters, but the analogies are about the shapes of the letters, not the meaning. So F is to E as I is to….well, I would say J, because J comes after I like F comes after E. But the “correct” answer is L, because that’s what you get when you add a horizontal line to the bottom of the letter I. ARGH. The analogy being made in analogy problems for kids really needs to not be ambiguous.Puzzles with “best guess” or trick answers aren’t really enjoyable and they don’t really teach logic well either.

Good book, but sadly outer parcel received damaged so some pages were a bit bent. Content definitely suitable for an 8yr old and my son was very happy receiving this.

Something wrong with the print of the text. Two pages are okay and the next two pages have overlapped text which makes you dizzy. The entire book has the same issue. Iâve requested for the refund but I like the contents of the book but not sure whether the other copies are all good.
