Perfect timing to receive this shade for Tesla M3. Problem with other shades is that they are a bit unwieldy to store in the car. This shade is very compact and I can just place it on the adjoining seat until I am ready to use it. Deployment of this shade is not as intuitive as your basic fold out. You need to first loosen the wrap, then put this in place first with the umbrella handle facing down over the car’s display, then give it a couple of shakes, then pretty much just open it like an umbrella. The shade will fit most of the windshield at that point, then you fold down the visors and fix the velcro strap near the visors and the whole thing stays put. Yes, additional steps are involved, but I find the compactness of this unit for storage makes up for the more complicated process. Someday, perhaps, front windshields will be equipped with a ‘tonneau cover’ that can be pulled up to shade the windshield, but until then I will seek the better mousetrap to block that nasty Arizona sun and keep the car cooler in the summer.

A review of the Foldshade Tesla Model Y & Tesla Model 3 Windshield Sun Shade Umbrella, Retractable Sunshade for Front Window Block UV Rays Heat Keep Cool Protect Interior Easy Installation and Storage.There was quite a bit of engineering that went into this sunshade umbrella. Unfortunately, it isnât as easy to use and a traditional sunshade – at least for me.It is a little awkward opening the umbrella shade and positioning it. It can be a bit of a challenge removing it as well. There are a couple of gaps that light can still get in around the mirror, but it still does a good enough job keeping the light out. The swivel joint seems a little flimsy. Iâm not sure how durable it will be over time. It does fit in the side pocket of the door, but takes up all of the pocket space.I admire all the work that went into creating this umbrella shade, but it cost more and in my opinion is not an improvement over a standard spring loaded fold up shade.
