The Lil Joey is a newborn diaper designed to fit from 4-12lbs. Kanga Care brand cloth diapers are the ORIGINAL and ONLY cloth diapers uniquely designed with the patented leak protection technology of dual inner gussets. The inside of each diaper is designed with 2 gentle inner gussets, a double barrier that channels each leg. There is no chance of escape for even the messiest of messes! The Lil Joey takes special care with a snap down front for sensitive cord care during those first precious days. The Lil Joey is the simplest of diaper systems on the market for a newborn baby. The internal soaker is 4 layers of thirsty microfiber that have been permanently sewn into the core of the diaper, no stuffing required. The Lil Joey is waterproof and requires no cover. Kanga Care diapers and accessories are also biodegradable! When composted they will biodegrade in 4-5 years. In 2008 Kanga Care started using a biodegradable TPU waterproof material. Biodegradable TPU is solvent-free polyester fabric that has been laminated with a thermoplastic polyurethane using a heat bonding process, not chemicals. This process is low in toxicity and is better for the natural environment then traditional PUL. One of the most important decisions new parents face, just got easier. All Kanga Care products gave been lovingly designed and invented by a mother in Colorado and distributed world wide out of Golden, Colorado. Made responsibly in China under Swiss Certificate by a Danish Mom-Owned Company.

Customers say
Customers find the diapers fit well and are great for small babies. They have a snug, below-the-belly fit that is also snug around the waist. The cute designs and colors are appreciated. Many customers find the diapers absorbent and easy to use. However, some are disappointed with how quickly the diapers dry. There are mixed opinions on leakage and washability.

Snazzy diapers for newborns
OBSESSED with these diapers. If I could afford it, I would buy like 20 of these and use them exclusively during the newborn phase!!! However, it’s pretty cost prohibitive to do so, so instead I bought 4 of them and use them every day. They are very high quality, very trim for a cloth diaper, and SUPER cute. The snaps hold up well. They absorb liquid quickly so don’t really feel wet against baby’s skin even though they are saturated. Washing is simple since there is no assembly required.Only downside to these diapers is that once your baby starts to get a bit bigger, you’ll have to stop using them for night time as they don’t hold a ton. We had a (pee) leak the other day after she had been in these for about 4 hours. Still a great daytime option though and haven’t had any poo blowout. Another downside is if you have big babies. These really are best for smaller babies. I think around 10lbs baby will start to outgrow these. Definitely no more than 11/12lbs. But we started off at 6lbs so it’s totally worth it.I anticipate these will hold up for subsequent babies. So if you’re planning to have a lot of kids it may be worth the investment to get a lot of these!

Excellent Diaper – Soft and Well Made
These are so soft and the inside looks really comfortable. They only require one wash prior to wearing so the prep is easy. We prepped ours right away and she wore both diapers the same day they were delivered. Our baby is a heavy wetter and these did not leak or have blowouts – and she did poop in both of them. The fit was excellent at both the leg and the waist – snug but not too tight, and she seemed comfortable. I do wish they came in singles or at least a two-pack of different patterns since this is the only duplicate we have. For comparison, our baby weighs about 8 1/2 pounds and is approximately 22 inches long. She still fits the smallest setting but doesn’t need the umbilical cord snap down. The GroVia newborn AIO has leaked for us on multiple occasions and so has the Fuzzibunz extra small pocket diaper – both of those are loose at the waist on her.The only other diapers that have worked for us are the Blueberries/Swaddlebees Newborn Simplex AIO and prefolds with a thirsties cover.

Adorable!! Just wish the tag was fabric
These little diapers are so adorable!! We were only able to use them a short time before our child outgrew them, but it was worth it for the snap down umbilical cord. They’re also super easy to use and clean. If exclusively breastfed, you can just throw them in the wash and everything comes right out! If there is a stain it’s slight, and easy to remove by simply laying the diaper in the sun for an hour or so.We never had any issues with stains or smells. Just be sure to use proper detergent and a good wash routine. The fluff love university website is a great resource. They have a detergent index which I found extremely helpful in selecting unscented, plant based, and cruelty free detergents. They also have a washing machine index.. you just find your make and model and it will tell you which settings to use for your particular machine.Since these are all in one diapers they do take longer to dry, but that is to be expected. I didn’t mind.. it was worth the convenience. I can’t imagine hanging multiple inserts and stuffing diapers during the newborn phase! The orange diaper came with a tag that said “wash separately,” so I called Kanga Care for more information. They woman I talked to was so friendly and helpful! Excellent customer service. She explained that some colors like reds and oranges may bleed the first time you wash them. It’s usually not an issue but they put that label on just in case, since the color may transfer to other inserts. I only had 2 orange diapers so I just washed them with everything else and didn’t have any problems.Another thing that’s great about these diapers is that since they’re only used a short time (and are adorable) they have a high resale value. Just saying. The only thing I do not like about these diapers is the tag. It’s a thick, flexible plastic or something. It’s awkward and can catch on things sometimes. I never had a problem with the lil joeys leaking around the tag, but one of my newborn covers did (see last picture). I wish they would replace it with a fabric tag.

Easy to use, easy to clean, great size range. Not as breathable as cotton versions
This is the only snap down all-in-one/all-in-two cloth diaper I can find that goes down to smaller sizes (newborn size/less than 7 pounds). I was so happy to find them (our kiddo came home from the NICU at just under 5 pounds). They are easy to use (we used ours with disposable bamboo liners so that we could use oil based diaper rash cream) and really easy to machine wash and dry. When it comes to absorbing, keeping baby dry, and containing blow outs they are 10 out of 10. Here is where they lost a star (and if I could give them 4.5 I would) Because it’s an all in one (absorbent inner and waterproof outer stitched together instead of put on separately) and because it’s 100% polyester the diapers don’t breath as well as disposables or cotton all in twos (cotton absorbing diaper with a poly liner diaper over). This meant that when we used a less intense diaper cream on our daughter (we had gotten sent home from the hospital with it) she developed pretty bad diaper rash (we were changing her diaper every two hours and using cream every time). We started putting in a disposable liner and using both aquifer and boudreaux butt paste every time we changed her diaper and the rash cleared up. Once she hit 7 pounds we switched her to cotton based cloth diapers with a poly outer and she was less prone to diaper rash overall. I would use these again, but I would go in using diaper liners and more intense cream from the beginning and I would switch them to cotton based as SOON as they hit 7#.

We found that baby’s solids got stuck in the gussets, and it was so hard to get out. We tried a lot but it was just never fully clean. I like the idea, but it just didn’t work for our newborn!

This was the only new diaper I bought my newborn baby and I was so excited because of the brand name and the cute print. But, it is very difficult to wash away the poop that gets stuck in the centre stitch. It is very absorbent and worked well until baby was 6kgs but I absolutely do not recommend.
