Delicious, Versatile and Cost Effective!
I often buy Ito-En bottled matcha tea products in the US and Japan because I love their flavor. Recently I found out about the tea in powder form, and fell in love with it too. For anyone who has been to Japan, it tastes very similar to the tea that they often serve in sushi restaurants. For people who have not been, it has a very clean simple flavor of matcha. It is unsweetened and not too bitter. This tea is great also because it can be used hot or cold, and you can easily add milk or sweetener to make matcha lattes, or add to rice for ochazuke.Because this is a product from Japan, the instructions and recipes on the back are in Japanese. However I appreciate that the sender put a sticker on the front that had the ingredients, nutrition facts and maker information in English as well as the fact they hand wrote the expiration date as well. Such a simple thing but the attention to detail is fantastic!

Superb green tea with matcha
I can’t believe I am writing a five star review of an instant tea mix! I never use instant drink mixes—only the best coffee or tea I can find as a rule. But I accidentally got this item, mistaking one item for another, thinking I was getting whole tea leaves. Such strong reviews I decided to try it—too late to cancel—and am so glad I did. Sure, it’s instant and not superbly nuanced but it’s terrific compared with ordinary green tea available in a grocery and just as good as some whole leaf teas from Asia. Recommended. I will buy again to have on hand for a quick good tea.

Itoen makes some incredibly good inexpensive green teas. I drink their bottled teas a lot in Japan (you can’t get the same variety here – especially their stronger versions). This instant one (called さらさら – written in the yellow box) is ground up sencha leaves. When you mix it in cold or hot water, it dissolves completely. There’s another version I like that’s brewed like a tea (the used leaves are discarded), but this is more convenient – no teapot required. Just make sure you know which version you’re ordering.

Did I muck up order?57 dollars seems excessive for a 2.8 oz.package.I thought that I was buying a much larger package.
