So, I recently got my hands on this thermometer, and I gotta say, Iâm pretty impressed. Itâs really easy to use, and I like that it gives quick and accurate temperature readings. Plus, having three measurement options in one gadget is a real space-saver.My favorite feature has to be the infrared sensor. Itâs perfect for checking the temperature of baking stones for bread, which used to be a bit of a guessing game for me. And the magnetic backing is super handyâI can stick it on the side of the oven or grill when Iâm using it.The only thing I wasnât crazy about was the hinge for the foldable probe. It feels a little flimsy, and I wish it was sturdier. Oh, and just a heads up, it doesnât come with batteries, so make sure youâve got a couple of AAAâs on hand. But overall, Iâd say this thermometer is definitely worth checking out if youâre in the market for a versatile kitchen gadget.

This works much better than expected, especially comparing it to very similar designs most of which totally sucked. There’s no auto-on off micro-switch to fail, just a real power button. Which makes sense because there are two other temperature-taking modes that don’t even require flipping out the pivot probe.I was especially pleased to see the infrared feature works quite competently for such a small, integrated package. Just be aware that the sample area is very precise and a pretty small area (for most any infrared thermometers) . For example the product description mentions pizza. If you point the laser it at a pizza, it will measure somewhere around 160-210F if it’s pointed at the crust or a mushroom. But if it’s pointed at a piece of sizzling pepperoni or sausage it will quite likely read 275F or more. It’s not for measuring all things food, but is very handy (such as melting a small bucket of hot glue to 300F on a hot plate) .Which is where the probes come in. The optionally connected wired braided wire probe (included) can be kept in your meat or lasagna in the oven the whole time while the base unit safely sits outside the oven telling you temp inside. And the fold out probe attached to the unit itself can be used for sporadic quick reads (then removed). The unit switches to an infrared reading when you press the laser pointer, otherwise it defaults to the attached pivoting probe unless the corded probe is plugged into it’s jack, then it shows the temp of that probe instead. Along with the auto-shutoff of 5 minutes, It’s pretty intuitive and only as smart as I prefer all my electronic devices and appliances.Documentation: This unit takes 2 AAA batteries, not lithium coin batteries as some of the docs mention, Also, there are TWO probe ports. If you had a compatible probe the same as the one that’s included, you can take TWO corded temps at the same time (such as ambient temp in your oven/pit AND the temp inside your brisket or pork butt) . The display will then alternate every 2 seconds showing Probe #1 (“MP1”), then probe #2 (“MP2” on the display). I did not have any probes with the same size jack nor that is calibrated for this unit, but I was able to test the feature using a 10K resistor in the second jack port (for techies, this is NOT a 10K thermister probe, but I’ll figure it out ;-)I’m a thermometer geek and the unit matches (within a reasonable variance) of my other most trusted thermometers. This is easily my most versatile thermometer at the moment. With 4 different ways to read temperatures, it’s far more versatile than ANY other other coking thermometer out there (that I know of, and I know most of them). And it costs even less than most of those name branded 1-trick pony’s with just a single corded probe. Highly recommended.

This things a bit of a puzzle. The instruction sheet picture matches the thermometer, but the instructions are wrong, and poor. It says it takes a coin battery, but it takes AA batteries. It shows a list of properties, but does not identify them on any picture. Some instructions are duplicated. There are two holes for the cable probe which puzzled me, until I experimented and it looks like possibly it can take two probes, because depending on which hole you stick it in, it will say 1 or 2. The probe plug in hole is bigger than normal. I wanted to test it by plugging in another probe from one of my other thermometers, but this one is different than the rest. The hole is bigger. So that’s kind of frustrating that it’s not universal with the others. IF, the instructions are right, it will not stay on for more than 5 minutes if no activity. That might not be desirable if you are wanting to leave it in the meat and monitor it. Time will tell. It seems to function ok. Maybe not my first pick…

This is a really nice thermometer. It is easy to use and so far very accurate readings. I have only used the probe attached to measure meats and liquid for activating yeast and have had zero issues. The magnet is very strong and it sticks to my stove and does not move at all. There are so many functions with this thing I havenât even began to use them all. Like the wired thermometer, which I will be using thanksgiving or the infrared reader. For the price and everything you get it is very much worth the money. My old one just had the attached probe and digital screen and I paid around the same amount. The best feature in my opinion is the battery life indicator. so many times with my old one Iâd go to use and batteries are just dead and I am rushing to replace them. Not with this one, Iâll have plenty of notice for when to change them. I really recommend it.

I have owned 2 other brand folding instant read thermometers. But, I broke one so I ordered this one. I prefer to have 2 (one in the kitchen and one in my camping gear). So, I am/was hoping this would be just as good. I am disappointed..First thing I noticed when opening the box was the battery compartment cover was missing. Obviously this makes it very susceptible to water damage in the kitchen. I am convinced this was a simple error that can be expected occasionally and is partially excusable. But, for a new product it demonstrates a level of poor quality control. I hope they get better and you will have better luck.Next is the User Manual. TINY! Under a 10x magnifier my calipers showed the letter maximum height is about 0.051″ (1.3mm). That makes it approximately 3.6pt which is well below my ability to read. So I magnified the manual 200% on my copy machine. Why do I bother? The text is a very crude translation and in places is absolutely incorrect. Now, on to the usability. First step, the User Manual says to install 2 CR2032 button cells. OOPS. I installed 2 AAA batteries. At this point I gave up on the manual. I fiddled with the thermometer for a while until I figured out the buttons.I continued with comparing this G.a HOMEFAVOR 3-in-1 Digital Meat Thermometer to my remaining instant read thermometer and my recollection of the recently deceased model. The folding probe got the ice water temperature correct and the boiling water was close enough to 212 F. The other 2 competitor thermometers got 32 and 212 degrees on the nose. The G.a HOMEFAVOR was much slower to reach a stable reading. The plug in meat probe got 32 degrees right but the boiling water came in at 206 degrees. The other 2 thermometers do not have plug in probes. The IR thermometer is difficult to judge the calibration because it depends on the emisivity of the surface being measured. Most organic surfaces have an emisitivity in the range of 0.95 and a shiny mirror is 0. The boiling water and ice are somewhere in low end of that range. This thermometer has no adjustment for emisivity. Neither of the other thermometers had an IR mode. So, this thermometer from G.a HOMEFAVOR gets a thumbs up for coolness.Pros:1) Cool IR thermometer.2) Not super accurate but close enough.3) Very high temperature capability.4) Detachable oven probe.Cons:1) Worthless User Manual.2) Missing battery cover.3) Not waterproof (missing battery cover).4) Slower response.5) The C/F units switch is a toggle switch under the batteries.6) Magnets weak. It slides to the floor on my fridg.
