My favorite loose leaf green tea
I’ve been buying this for four years now. Every morning I have a cup of green tea, and this is the best value and flavor I’ve found â well worth the extra step of infusing it myself and avoiding micro plastics in tea bags! I’ve also used it as a base for kombucha with much success. One bag lasts us several months. Highly recommend ð¤ð»

No doubt medicinal, slightly different
Here is the skinny on this brand. Speaking for Gunpowder strain. Gunpowder pick is all I know and live by in the Green Tea world, although I have tried many different brands and harvest types. This is 100% a solid medicinal Gunpowder Green Tea. Bold, smoky, settling, and savory. However, compared to Numi, which I have bought in the past for a couple of years, there is a slightly different taste to it. I feel like Co-Op Gunpowder is not as bright/vivid and the leaves may actually be picked from a later phase, since Gunpowder is differentiated by the early timing of picking vs the later timing of picking of the leaf. Co-op has the medicinal compounds, but I believe Numi Gunpowder is one notch above. Which makes sense price-wise. Additionally, Co-Op does the trick for relaxation and soothing of the mind as you transition into the evening. The caffeine content is still high like Gunpowder is supposed to be! My go to for the price. Lastly, I wish they have a test on pesticide residue on Co-Op, but since it’s new I can’t find anything on it. I can tentatively rest assured it is quality because it does have the right stamps of approval on the package like Numi and the others. Fingers crossed.

Tasty and no natural flavorings added
Fits the green chai bill! So many antioxidants going on in this tea. LMy tea strainer doesn’t strain all the product but that’s ok. The fennel gives the taste an extra dimension that you wouldn’t see in a chai blend. I am grateful that there are no natural flavors added like in a bagged brand that has the same tea. I make mine with frothed homemade almond milk sprinkled with cardamom. It’s so delicious. Than you frontier for great products over the years.

Not so good.
I like Frontier products, in general, and have a good bias towards them but, this is not a good jasmine tea, to us. It lacks a prominent jasmine presence and the underlying (green?) tea is not very good; it is weak and kind of grassy. We replaced it with a jasmine tea from our local Asian food market and have enjoyed that rather than this tea for over a month, now. Pass.

My favorite gunpowder tea.
Frontier’s organic and fair trade gunpowder is consistently the best of the various brands I have tried. I brew a rounded teaspoon per 12 oz of 170 to 175 fresh water for 5-8 minutes. I find the shorter brewing time recommended on the package does not deliver the depth of flavor that I enjoy. With other brands the flavor seems too flat or too fragrant whereas the Frontier seems to have the perfect balance of grassy, leafy and smokey, and it is robust enough to benefit from longer brewing without getting bitter or too astringent. It can even be re-brewed for a second cup, if you don’t mind that it’s milder the second time around. A very high quality tea.If you’ve never had gunpowder tea, each leaf is rolled into a little pellet. When you brew it these pellets open up expanding considerably in size. So tea bags (never the best idea) are especially inappropriate. None the less, to give a new tea a try, or for convenience while traveling, try Numi’s organic gunpowder Numi Organic Tea Gunpowder Green, Full Leaf Green Tea, 18-Count Tea Bags (Pack of 3) – it’s the best of the bagged versions. If you like that, then invest in the Frontier (and make up Tea Sacks T-Sac – Size 2 for traveling, leave plenty of room for expansion). I use the Finum baskets Finum Goldton Filters at home, you can buy the smaller ones in pairs perfect for two people with different tastes, and they keep the tea covered while brewing.
