I’ve been using this for 5 months now and it’s been fantastic. This review is for the SC400D (I don’t know why Amazon is grouping all the Cobra cameras together in the same review pool when all these cameras are so different). So it has the front camera at 4K and rear camera at 1080p. It’s just a set it and forget it system. When you turn on the car, it powers up. When you start driving, it starts to record. If you just sit idle with the car running, it’ll turn off and then when you start driving, it turns back on and starts recording. When the memory card runs out of space the first time, it’ll ask you to format the card and then it’ll be able to record continuously without intervention ((loop recording)when it runs out of space, it’ll erase the oldest videos so you can keep recording). The way I have it set up, when I’m driving, 3/4 of the screen is for the front camera and 1/4 is for the rear camera. The 1/4 is small so it’s not ideal but you could technically use this view to see things when reversing your car. It would be awesome if it would flip the cameras when backing up (e.g., have 3/4 of screen be the rear camera when reversing) but it doesn’t.It’s very easy to attach and detach because while the mount is almost permanently attached to the windshield with super sticky tape, the camera is attached to the mount by magnets. so if you want to prevent someone from breaking into the car and stealing the camera, you could. The video quality is terrific. It really does look good and the camera comes with a circular polarizer so that you can adjust it so that it cuts down glare and makes the image more vivid. Nighttime, the quality is great for the environment but because the camera exposes for the entire environment, it tends to overexpose the license plates which are white so I guess they decided it’s more important to capture the accident than it is to capture the license plate. For things I didn’t test… I don’t use Alexa so nothing for that. It has a parking mode where it’s always recording but it requires that the camera is connected to constant power (which I’m too lazy to have that kind of installation; I just have it connected to a spare cigarette lighter port) or a cigarette lighter that can provide constant power (mine can’t; when I turn off the car, it cuts power to the port). I don’t use the Drive app because I use a combination of Google Maps and Garmin DriveSmart 86 (which uses Google Maps data and traffic). I don’t use Waze because I find it is way too crazy with false alarms (especially with trafffic and cop locations) and has more wrong directions. I ended up getting the SC 400D kit for my other car too because it does work really well. However, it is friggin expensive and I think it should be cheaper because there are cheaper units out there that aren’t that much worse.

I bought this product on May 18th, 2024. Within a few weeks after purchasing it, I had multiple issues crop up and have been dealing with them ever since. The first one is that the device frequently does not start up with my vehicle and refuses to do so automatically or manually until it decides for itself that it wants to work. If I can get it to start up, it frequently stops recording and says “Memory Error” and has me format the SD card. I have bought multiple high-quality SD cards for this camera and the issue has persisted throughout ownership. I reached out to Cobra Support and after confirming that my memory card was up to the required specs and that my camera was on the latest firmware, I was told that I would have to stop using the parking mode cord that I purchased to power the camera during driving and while parked. Even when the camera was plugged into my cigarette lighter this issue and the power on issue persists. Eventually, my ticket was closed with no resolution. The latest issue to pop up is now the lock loop video button (Event record button) on the side of the camera has stopped working, I have had multiple incidents to record and the button has kept this from happening. Thankfully I haven’t been in an accident or anything where I really needed footage. The camera quality is great, but if the camera isn’t recording most of the time I am driving, what good is that? Overall, the support and quality of the product are subpar and I would not recommend purchasing this product. After spending $400 on a top-of-the-line dash cam, I am disappointed. I am hoping I will be able to purchase one of a different brand soon.

I purchased this Cobra dash cam about one year ago ( first time I have ever had one )…. and had the Mazda dealership professionally hard wired it into my car ….It worked great for over a year ….. then it started beeping …. I did the usual looked on line for problem solving etc (put in a new memory card) didn’t work …. looked for anyone who fixes dash cams (Nada) everyone wants to put them in but no-one wants to work on malfunction ones …. then I found Scorpios web page for customer service …. called …. a gentleman speaking very clear English answered and walked me thru the whole process of fixing it …. Frankly all it needed was to be rebooted , reset to factory settings …. cleared up perfectly …. he stayed on the phone with me while I got my coat … keys …. open garage …. started the car …. and explained every step …. Products are only as good as their customer service …. and in today’s times when there seems to be so little of it I want to say how wonderful the customer service at Scorpio’s dash cam is …. beyond perfect ….So if you are deciding between Scorpio & another brand check out the other brands customer service ….Because Scorpio”s is amazing …..

After a few updates it is easier to connect my phone to the camera but it’s slow.Does have a motion sensor but it’s way sensitive. my car in the driveway is 50ft off the road and the camera activates everytime a car, person, animal goes by.Not enough people on my route (with this camera)to work report speed traps so that is not useful. The rear camera cable is like 20ft so be ready for that. You can turn off the MPH.No real complaints outside of the freezing and long connect times.Clips are cut into 1-1:15sec, so if something happens you don’t have to look to far for the event.
