IS A PULSE OXIMETER FOR YOU?
While a Pulse Oximeter is not intended for medical use, it is the simplest and most convenient way to detect and monitor vital signs before and after any strenuous activity such as a workout at home or in the gym — or sports such as running, cycling, basketball or tennis. People who work in aviation or travelers who fly frequently need an oximeter to know if their oxygen level is dropping or normal.

UPDATED: Still going strong 2.5 yrs later! …
UPDATE: Still using this several times a day, and itâs still going strong after over 2.5 years of use. Iâve owned several different pulse/ox devices over the years and I can say that this one is the best of the bunch. I actually came back to Amazon tonight to order a second one so that iâll have a backup, especially since Iâm doing a lot of travel these days, mostly long cruises of at least 21 days. It uses AAA batteries which are easy to find almost everywhere. And itâs not a battery âhogâ — the first set if batteries lasted about 18 months of daily use, checking my numbers 2 or 3 times a day. AND itâs staying accurate. Iâve taken it to my doctor’s office twice a year to compare with my doctorâs pulse/ox and itâs almost always exactly the same or at most 1-2 points lower than my docâs.Itâs still a 5-star item.Original review:This is a newer version of an AccuMed Pulse Oximeter I’ve been using for several years. It’s accurate, easy to set up and use (just put in the batteries), and the lanyard and case make it easy to take along when I exercise or travel. I have severe emphysema, prone to CO2 retention, so it helps to keep tabs on O2 levels when I’m doing anything strenuous so I can take pre-emptive action (specific breathing techniques) before I run into trouble. There are a number of small oximeters on the market and they all operate on similar technology, so it comes down to the quality of the materials used and how it’s put together. Some are really junk — accuracy is whacky, the spring clip gives out, etc. This one is very good quality and built to last. I’ve been using it for several weeks, usually 2-3 times a day — more if it’s a heavy exercise day — and I’ve seen no issues at all. This one’s a keeper — solid 5-stars for accuracy and quality.

Nice to have around
This one reads well and is very handy. Has a little case also. At ages 70 and 92 we figured we should have one around.

Excellent meter for a reasonable price that returns accurate readings a bit faster than expected.
Excellent meter for a reasonable price that returns accurate readings a bit faster than expected. (Crossed checked this meter’s readings with a high-end, medical grade (and brand) meter with pretty much the same results each time). FYI & remember that these “retail to the public” meters are for monitoring yourself in sports, athletic and exercising related activities and not for use in a professional medical environment as explained/disclaimed in the meter’s enclosed instructions as well as on the product’s webpage (on Amazon and other seller sites). My take by this statement is that it’s more to protect both the manufacturer and the seller than the meter’s owner and end user. Medical office type meters are much more expensive than these “over the counter” meters that consumers (like us) buy…though the technology is pretty much the same.

Spot on when a Respiratory Therapist compared with hers!
Easy to use and accurate. In fact, this was the same brand that a local Pulmonology office was using and matched theirs perfectly!
