High Quality VS. Low Quality Matcha
Taste:
The amino acids that give Matcha its sweet smell should actually make the tea taste slightly sweet, too.
Touch/Feel:
A high quality Matcha should feel very fine and silky similar to the feel of eye shadow or baby powder.
Lower quality matcha will have larger particle sizes that feel coarse between the fingers.
High Quality VS. Low Quality Matcha
Color
Good quality Matcha is vibrantly green in color—often described as jade green—and lower qualities tend to have a more yellowish/brownish hue.
High Quality VS. Low Quality Matcha
Price
Matcha is an expensive tea. Tons of labor goes into the cultivation, harvest, and manufacturing of Matcha
Smell:
A high quality Matcha should smell sweet and vegetal, thanks to the L-theanine amino acid that is preserved in the shade.

Good matcha if new to it all.
Nice smooth earthy/grassy taste with a floral tasting finish that is slightly sweet. I ordered this and made it with 1 1/2-2 teaspoons matcha, 3 fl oz water, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla syrup over ice with oatmilk. Refreshing, mellow, and creamy. Get a matcha kit (whisk, bamboo scoop, bowl) the whisk will reduce clumpiness. Worth the small investment in the tools.

Quality
Product came in a tin with a pull tab, product is fresh. Product is less bitter than matcha which costs 1/3rd the price and appears to be made of high quality soft leaves, not the veins or stems and so appears and tastes ceremonial grade. You may get 15 or more cups of tea out of this. This product appears to be for people who specifically want the highest grade matcha available. With this you get what you pay for, the healthiest choice.Would get this again to treat myself something sustainable made from leaves, not seeds or flowering reproductive parts. Again you are paying for the highest quality leaf material, all the rest is discarded where as “consumer – grade” matcha will just use stem and whole leaf, without consideration, resulting in a different product and different taste.Currently avoiding seeds and nuts which grow into life when you don’t munch them or turn them into oils for salads. Also avoiding stems and other parts of plants which are required for plants to live generally. This fits into a hyper-strict diet where as normal matcha does not. This product is way less bitter than consumer grade matchas

Taste, texture, flavor, buzz
It has it all. Delicious! I usually would use culinary and add creamer and sweetener. I do not necessarily need that with this and prefer less as the taste is so sweet and creamy naturally. Great buzz per serving. Calm focus. Use the mesh strainer, bamboo spoon and get the whole kit, the ritual is very worth it.

Best Quality
What I liked: The quality of the match. It is clean tasting and slightly sweet tasting. By far the most flavorful, clean tasting matcha I’ve had.Cons: Although it may just be this one occurrence, I believe my order was missing a screw on lid for use after you pop the top. I had to transfer to an air tight container to keep fresh rather than keeping it in the can it comes in.

Will cause a headache!
I recently purchased Aiya Matcha and had high hopes based on its reputation. At first, I noticed that it had a smooth flavor without any bitterness or overpowering aftertaste, which was a promising start. However, after a few days of drinking it, I began realizing every time I drank it, I would have a severe headaches.Initially, I thought it was a fluke since my first encounter with aiya matcha a year ago didn’t cause any issues. I shared the matcha with a few friends. Remarkably, three out of four of them told me they got headaches too!Not sure if it might be a bad batch or perhaps an issue related to how the green tea is processed, possible pesticide residues. We regularly enjoy matcha without any adverse effects, so this experience was particularly concerning.Unfortunately, based on our collective experiences, I cannot recommend Aiya Matcha or the brand. Itâs disheartening that something so well-regarded led to such unexpected reactions. I purchased a ceremonial grade And yes, I did Refrigerator after opening it So that wouldnât be the issue!

Usucha, at best.
Save. yourself. Do not use this for koicha. On the other hand, as a thin tea (usucha) with a sweet (higashi), it is okay. It’s not the best matcha around, but it’s certainly tolerable as usucha. I’m sure it would make a great matcha latte. On the plus side, it is the least expensive matcha I will drink as usucha.

Iâve tried quite a few brands and this one is my favourite! I have a cup of matcha every morning and Aiyaâs is smooth and mild and doesnât clump up when hot water is added to it. Tastes great! My recent order arrived with one of the cans missing its lid (would have returned it if I didnât have older containers whose lids I could use), but that must have been by accident as Iâve ordered plenty from Amazon before without issue.

This is the same matcha that comes from Aiya Matcha if you order directly from their website. The main benefit of ordering it from Amazon as a Canadian is that you donât have to pay customs and duties when it arrives at your home. You also pay in Canadian dollars when ordering from Amazon. If you order directly from the Aiya Matcha website then you would have to pay customs and duties when it arrives if you are living in Canada. The Aiya Matcha website also charges you in American dollars. As far as the matcha itself is concerned, I really love the matcha and the loose-leaf tea from Aiya Matcha. They produce wonderful tea. The quality is excellent. The matcha paraphernalia that they have is also excellent. I have 2 different kinds of matcha bowls from them and I am very happy with everything that I have bought from them.My shipment of this matcha from Amazon arrived a day ahead of the predicted delivery date.

The color is bright, vibrant green, not dark green. Great flavor w natural sweet taste, not bitter, grassy or fishy. Blends really well (I sift into a milk frother w milk for matcha lattes). By far my favorite matcha, such a joy to drink every morning. Wish it was just a little bit better priced, but still overall great value. I’ve tried Matcha Ninja (not ceremonial, very greige green not bright green like their marketing pictures, no taste, I have to add 4-5x the amount to get some color and flavor). Do Matcha Organic Summer Harvest is good but not as good as Aiya’s; the color is not as bright but has a nice flavor. DavidsTea organic Ceremonial is also good, good flavor, great color, but a lot more expensive.

This is my first time ordering Culinary grade Matcha – after reading some reviews online that this particular type by Aiya is great for smoothies and lattes (I drink matcha in a latte form), I decided to give it a try. Especially since it’s a great price and package size. Matcha is BRIGHT green – the same green as my ceremonial grade matcha from Tealish! I might have gotten a bit too excited and scooped too much for my first cup because I had a bit of undissolved matcha left on the bottom, otherwise the taste is great – not too earthy or chalky, just right. I added a bit of brown sugar for sweetness and enjoyed instead of my morning coffee today!
