Squirrel Buster Classic is a truly squirrel-proof bird feeder with 4 feeding ports. It holds 1. 5 quart/2. 4 lb of bird seed. Attracts clinging & perching Birds. Holds up to 1.4 quarts of bird seed. view larger Harmless, but effective design makes it truly squirrel-proof. view larger Attracts a wide variety of clinging and perching birds. view larger Weight of squirrel triggers closing mechanism, preventing access. view larger Equipped with patented Squirrel Buster technology, this Brome 1015 Squirrel Buster Classic bird feeder offers an innovative design that attracts birds while keeping squirrels at bay. The bird feeder holds up to 1.4 quarts of bird seed, whether it’s Black Oil sunflower seed (a good all-round birdseed) or other seed blends specific to your area. A welcome choice for bird lovers, the squirrel-proof bird feeder attracts a wide variety of clinging and perching birds including American Gold Finches, Chickadees, Hairy Woodpeckers, Cardinals, Indigo Buntings, Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks, White-Breasted Nuthatches, and Purple Finches. Openings in the wire shroud align with seed ports and provide birds access to the seed. When a squirrel climbs onto the feeder, its weight automatically forces the shroud down, closing access to the seed ports. All squirrels and many large birds are blocked from accessing the seed, but are not harmed in any way. Even more, the feeder includes a negative grip tube which prevents squirrels from grabbing the wire hanger with their hind legs, hanging down alongside the feeder, and defeating the closing mechanism. Locate your feeder just about anywhere–no more worrying about those pesky squirrels. Position the feeder by your deck, in a nearby tree, or over a favorite window for those great close-up views. The bird feeder hangs easily with the use of wall brackets, branch hooks, or extension hooks. Be sure to allow for at least 16 inches (40 cm) of clearance around the feeder. This clearance will prevent a squirrel from reaching over from a nearby foothold to access the seed without placing its weight on the feeder. Forcing the squirrel to climb all the way onto the feeder triggers the closing mechanism, preventing access. The Squirrel Buster Classic dismantles easily for filling and cleaning. A handy maximum-seed-level indicator on the bottom of the yellow center-post cap helps prevent over-filling. To clean, wash the components of Squirrel Buster Classic with a solution of dish detergent and warm water. Rinse with a solution of white vinegar, a mild natural disinfectant. The bird feeder should be hand washed only; it is not dishwasher-safe.

    Expensive but the best!
Effectively stops squirrels and large birds taking all food and really easy to take apart and clean. Not sold as weight adjustable but I added 3 small 1mm thick washers which allow a woodpecker and starlings to feed. I’ve also wired a plant saucer which catches a lot of the waste. Highly recommended.

    Keeps the squirrels out!
Having already purchased one for our front garden it was time to replace one of the feeders in the rear garden and this is the goto feeder for us.So easy to fill and clean and its design as attracted more birds. One in particular being a nuthatch who likes to hang upside down on the feeder.Something they were unable to do on the previous caged feeder.

    Simply the best
Love this bird feeder, well worth the price. Squirrels give up very quickly. Highly recommend. I have two in use and now have a spare too.

We got one of these as a gift 3 or 4 years ago and hung on a maple tree in our front yard, we left it out all year. We live in Ontario so winters can be brutal, the feeder is just fine and functions like new. So, I bought a few different and cheaper feeders for our back yard. Then began me versus the squirrels and chipmunks. As I am retired I had plenty of time to MacGyver many attempts to outwit them….fail. They are crafty and the feed was all over the ground. So I bought 2 more of these and problem solved. Now we are the are feeding birds, the feed lasts longer as well. We fill one with sunflower seeds and the other with standard feed and get a variety of birds. Well worth the money. Check the guarantee and parts availability should you ever need any. You won’t go wrong with this feeder. Money well spent.

Well, I had just purchased the Squirrel Buster Plus from Amazon and because I had a number of points gained from purchases, I decided to use them to purchase this bird feeder. I am certainly not sorry I did. The reason I wanted the Classic was because of the wire grid. This will allow the little perching birds to feed comfortably. I had a few nuthatches visit my tray feeder a couple of years ago, and they did not seem to like it that much. Also, we often get goldfinches and chipping sparrows during the winter season here in Florida, and I think this will be a great feeder for them. Of course, the prospect of not having “squirrel raids” is very important. I have mixed seeds in this feeder comprising mostly of a finch blend and other assorted seeds. I also bought some peanuts (no oil or salt), and chopped them up and mixed them into the other seed. (Hope I get the little nuthatches back.) I find this to be an extremely durable feeder. It is easy to fill, very easy to take apart and adjust and hangs from the tree “just right.” I like the long wire and narrow steel tube just above the lid. Our little House Finches really like this feeder and pretty much come all day to feed now. I was surprised to find that my Cardinals also enjoy it. I did not expect this. They love the Plus, but they scoot over for the finch seeds and nuts, I guess. Our squirrels did not bother with this feeder for a number of days. Finally, they did give it a try. Of course, the grid dropped down with their weight and prevented access to the seed ports. They also tried to pop off the lid on the top, but this has a locking mechanism, so it is not possible for them to remove the lid and steal the seeds. They have pretty much given up on this feeder. I almost never see a squirrel trying to defeat it. They still give the Plus a try, but they cannot access the seeds there either. The Squirrel Buster Classic and Plus do what they claim. Now the squirrels have to be content with what falls on the ground. Like the Plus, this is a well-designed feeder that does not harm the squirrels in any way. When they are tired of trying, they just jump off. They are not trapped or shocked in any way. As with the Plus, you still want to hang it in a way where the squirrels cannot just reach over and pull the feeder to them without triggering the weight mechanism. A previous reviewer mentioned tiny access holes that the birds cannot reach. That is NOT the case on the Classic feeder. The access holes are quite large and allow for the use of black oil sunflower seeds and other seed mixes as well as full-sized peanuts. I think the other reviewer must be referring to the Squirrel Buster Finch Feeder which probably does have small access holes because it is intended for thistle and tiny finch seeds. At any rate, I recommend this wonderful bird feeder. It is well made, easy to use, durable and very attractive to the birds. Great price, and great service from Amazon, too!

As you well know, squirrels will empty a feeder in no time while they lay waste to the feeder itself. They don’t even seem to care what kind of seed it is, as long as they can HAVE IT ALL, and keep the birds away. This feeder — Squirrel Buster Classic Squirrel-proof Bird Feeder w/4 Feeding Ports, 2.4-pound Seed Capacity — has thwarted the squirrels! They try and try to get into, over and over again, but then they finally give up because they can’t reach the seed! It’s great.Don’t worry about the squirrels starving. The fat little destructive beasts get plenty to eat around here. They get the seed that falls to the ground. Along with the peanuts-in-the-shell I toss out for them. If the Blue Jays don’t get them all first. lolSo, yes, I would highly recommend this feeder, and the others made by Brome if you’re tired of trying to out maneuver the squirrels. I bought this one back in June 2020. With all the pandemic lockdowns, watching the birds flit around, and the squirrels get mightily frustrated, was rather entertaining. On top of that, the feeder worked so well to annoy the squirrels, I’ve bought two more. The Brome feeders are rather pricey, but it’s worth it because the squirrels haven’t annihilated them! So they’re durable, easy to open and clean out, and fairly easy to fill with fresh seed. Worth the money! The video is a bit dark and not the best quality. I can’t get close because the critters flee. But it shows all three Brome Squirrel Buster feeders I have now, and the little tree rat finally giving up. The squirrel is on the feeder in the center.

Skeptical that a bird feeder can really be squirrel proof after having bought 2 (not from this company) only to have them chewed up by squirrels or the bird food emptied in one day. What makes this bird feeder different is its construction. It’s designed in such a way that when something heavy hangs on it, such as your hand, the wire exterior prevents the holes of the bird feeder from lining up with the exterior, thus the squirrel cannot have access to the bird food. I like the wire exterior because the squirrels can’t chew it. What they have been doing is hanging upside down on it and swinging, thus spraying the food on the ground below (they really are clever, aren’t they?). But I can live with that and our bird food lasts a week, instead of a day.We have our usual beautiful cardinals, Blue Jays, woodpeckers, red finches, chickadees here in the Ottawa area come around and now even mourning doves who eat off the ground! It is so nice to enjoy the birds–not the squirrels–and to not have to run out every few minutes and scare the annoying squirrels away and to have our bird feeder remain intact and unchewed. This is an example of well thought out design and construction and I find it refreshing to have found a company that believes in superior quality products, not to mention they have a warranty on their bird feeders (how many companies do that?!). Even the packaging had built in instructions. The thought that went into this product was appreciated. The price we paid for this model is equivalent to the two bird feeders we’ve already purchased, so we feel that if this one lasts us more than the other two, we will have obtained good value. We will be purchasing from this company again and I have asked for their Squirrel Buster Plus as a gift!

After a black bear broke into our feeder earlier in the month, I was given a new one for Christmas. It was decorative, but I knew it was unlikely to survive in our area, where gray squirrels think they can fly and crows can often figure out a way to get into inferior bird feeders. That feeder was destroyed 5 days later and so I bought this one.I knew when I opened the box that this was a serious feeder. It comes fully assembled with easy-to-understand instructions for placement, cleaning and types of food to use. It holds more birdseed than most feeders and comes with photos of 21 bird varietals that can access the feeder. (So far I’ve seen 13 of these! Given regional differences, I’d say that was a very high score.) It has even survived, without any visible sign of damage, two groundings thanks to my defective hanging system. Plus it comes with a lifetime guarantee. I will likely never buy another brand.
