The best earphones Iâve ever owned
I recently picked up the Sennheiser Momentum 4 headphones, seeking a balance between professional-grade audio and personal versatility. After using them extensively for work, podcasts, gym sessions, and entertainment, I can confidently say these headphones meet (and exceed) expectations in many ways. Hereâs my take:Sound QualityThe Momentum 4 shines across the board:Highs:Crisp and balanced, these headphones effortlessly handle atmospheric tracks while maintaining richness and neutrality on more energetic tunes. The highs are detailed without being harsh.Mids:Vocals are consistently clear and focused, no matter the genre. While thereâs a slight recession in the lower mids and a delicate touch in tonal shifts, this neutrality ensures vocals and instruments never feel overshadowed. Itâs an ideal choice for those who appreciate a clinical and polished sound signature.Bass: If you love bass, the Momentum 4 will impress. The sub-bass packs a punch, delivering a visceral experience. Despite its depth, the bass remains textured and never overwhelms the mids or highs, making it both exciting and refined.Imaging: While instrument separation is excellent, directional clarity could be sharper. Vocals are precise, but subtle shifts in instrument staging can feel less noticeable in complex tracks.Active Noise Cancellation (ANC)In a noisy office, the Momentum 4 is a lifesaver. Constant background rumbles are effectively eliminated, but sharp, sudden noises occasionally break through. Interestingly, the ANCâs effectiveness improves slightly when facing the noise sourceâan odd but minor quirk.Comfort and FitComfort is subjective, but the Momentum 4 does a solid job: The plush padding makes them comfortable for long listening sessions, though the fit is a bit tight around the neck when not in use.The earcups rotate well, providing a secure and adjustable fit that works for extended wear.Battery Life and FeaturesBattery life is a standout feature, far outlasting competitors with an incredible lifespan. The quick-charging USB-C functionality is a lifesaver for busy schedules, and the ability to power them off manually is a thoughtful touch.Feature-wise, they strike a balance between simplicity and functionality:The basic EQ and ANC controls are effective and intuitive. The sidetone feature is a small but appreciated addition for calls, and the auto-pause functionality works seamlessly. While not overloaded with extras like spatial audio or deep app integration, the essential features are well-executed, and the appâwhile sometimes buggyâis user-friendly enough.DesignIs understated and utilitarian. While they wonât turn heads, their discreet design makes them perfect for both professional environments and casual outings. Personally, I appreciate this âkeep-it-simpleâ approach, even if it lacks a premium feel.ConclusionMomentum 4 delivers exceptional audio quality, impressive battery life, and practical features, making them a great choice for both work and leisure. While they arenât packed with flashy extras, their focus on performance and reliability makes them a standout option. Whether youâre drowning out office chatter, enjoying a podcast, or diving into a bass-heavy workout playlist, the Momentum 4 adapts seamlessly. The ability to switch seamlessly between two devices is amazing to me. I need not have to mess about with the settings on my laptop or phone for them to automatically connect. For anyone seeking headphones that balance professional needs with personal versatility, these are hard to beat.

Fantastic battery life
Iâve had these for over a year now, I was wanting to wait to review to ensure they lasted for this price point. My partner also has a pair which he got at the same time, and his views mirror my own.I am thoroughly impressed. The sound cancelling works a dream, I often put them on with nothing playing just to zone out and the noise cancelling feature is really solid.Personally, Iâve had no concerns with Bluetooth connectivity – Iâve found that it connects well every time. I can see this has been a problem for others. The battery life is insane, I barely find myself charging these and when I have too, it doesnât take long to reach full charge. The fit of the headphones is comfortable, adjustable sizing. The look gorgeous too, very neutral.Value for money wise I do think these are worth it, theyâre solid, nice carry case, good sound quality. The app available makes customising the settings easy too, very user friendly interface.

Awesome headphonesâ¦. butâ¦
I have owned the Momentum 2âs for many years and love them. But, after the battery started to fail and took over 8hrs to charge I decided to upgrade. Here are my thoughts:Sound – Really good, but different to the 2âs. Took some time to get used to but I really like the sound now.Battery – Amazing. 60 hours is huge and makes such a difference not having to charge so regularly.Comfort – The 2âs were great but these are on another level. Can wear for hours on end without getting hot or ever feeling uncomfortable.Look – The 2âs looked amazing with the ivory colour. These look ok, but do not stand out. Build quality is excellent. No creaking on mine.Controls – I hate the touch controls and miss having a button to adjust the volume. If adjusting, then it is easy to activate a control. Changing the volume is hit and miss. I have turned touch controls off as they are too unreliable. It would be good to switch just some of the controls off and just have volume, or have the ability to change via the app. Maybe having less controls would help it work better.Connectivity – multiple devices works fine. Iâve had no issues but it niggles me that when you connect, you get a lovely voice that tells you it has connected, but when you connect a Bluetooth device, a lady from Essex tells you it is connected. It is so wierd they use different voices for different announcements. All in all a great pair of headphones but I wish Sennheiser would address some minor niggles.

great upgrade from older model
Having upgraded from version 2 of the Momentum headphones, which lasted a commendable 10 years, I have high hopes for the longevity of this model. The sound quality remains familiar but now offers customisation through an app, making adjustments both intuitive and personal. Charging is now easier and quicker, a big plus for those always on the move, and the feel on the head has been slightly refined for better comfort.Battery life has been extended, promising even longer listening sessions than before, which is ideal for extended use. The design not only looks good but feels durable, suggesting these headphones will stand the test of time just as their predecessor did. Conclusion:Given the durability of version 2 and the improvements in this model, I can wholeheartedly recommend these headphones. They combine the reliability of the past with new conveniences, making them an excellent choice for anyone looking for quality audio gear that lasts. Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Very happy with these. I have always liked the sound quality and profile of Sennheiser headphones, but I did not like the Momentum 2 as I found them incredibly uncomfortable and did not have very well-implemented controls and software. The battery life is fantastic. I have only charged them once, and they are still at 60% months later despite using them every few days. These also feel more premium and comfortable than their previous generations. Noise-canceling seems better implemented; I always felt like I was wearing a diver’s helmet with the Momentum 2 ; these feel more natural sounding even with ANC turned on. I had no issues pairing them; the newer support app is much better designed. This is a worthwhile upgrade if you have an older Sennheiser Momentum generation.

English:Build quality: Yes, these are premium headphones. The headpads, cables, and travel case are simply perfect.Battery: I think the advertised 60-hour duration is accurate. You might need to fully charge the headphones maybe once a week with continuous use. This easily doubles the battery life of any of my other headphones (WH-1000XM5, QC-35 II).Comfort: I would say these are on par with the WH-1000XM5 in terms of comfort. They are quite comfortable, but I have big ears, and part of them isn’t fully covered by the pads, which can become uncomfortable after several hours. For the same reason, the pads don’t completely seal out external noise.Features: The app offers a ton of options, but everything is really disorganized. I believe it’s best to simply go with the initial pairing and leave the defaults as they are.The automatic on/off feature feels like magic. There’s no need to hold down a button for several seconds; you simply put them down or pick them up, and they respond naturally. It takes some time to get used to the touch controls, but they are quite responsive, and you’ll have a lot of fun learning them.Connectivity and sound quality:Like any other modern wireless headphones, these use Bluetooth 5.0+. You get good audio quality when used with a smartphone, and when paired with a computer, two devices are available: a standard stereo output and a hands-free device for both output and input. These headphones have the unique feature of being able to be charged and used at the same time when connected directly to a computer through the supplied USB-C cable. However, what I’m about to describe isn’t mentioned elsewhere:When the headphones are connected via Bluetooth and only media is played, the audio quality will be at most:2 Channel, 16 bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality), which is okay. It provides an average experienceânot bad, but not outstanding. If these are used for playback and recording simultaneously (in an online game with voice chat, for example), the headphones will switch to hands-free mode, and the quality will be at most:Playback and Recording: 1 Channel, 16 bit, 16000 Hz (Tape Recorder Quality). The person on the other end will have no trouble hearing your voice, as the microphone does a good job isolating environmental noise, but the playback quality will be horrible. So, if you were expecting to use the Momentum 4 wireless for streaming or similar purposes, look elsewhere. In other words, these headphones can’t play back high-quality audio and record from the microphone at the same time (neither via Bluetooth nor USB-C).Finally, there’s wired mode with USB-C, where you can truly experience the Momentum 4’s sound quality at its best:2 Channel, 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality), and I have to say, the sound quality is noticeably better than my XM5’s and QC-35’s, without a doubt.I give these headphones 5 stars because of the sound quality in wired mode and the outstanding battery life.
DDAY –
I just received these Sennheiser Momentum 4 cans about 7 days ago. I bought them for $270, and now I see you can get them $20 less. I made the purchase, despite the negative reviews posted on Amazon simply because I have learned that reviews don’t tell the whole story. Such as often times when it comes to Bluetooth devices, there will be a new firware/update that will need to be done, depending on how old the product is. In my case, that was the case. The firmware update was easy, took maybe a minute or two, and I was off and running. I have owned, and sold several headsets, from JBL, Beats, SkullCandy, Sony and yes, Bose. Now, for me, and how I like my music to sound, the Sennheiser 4s are by far the best sounding Bluetooth headphone to grace my melon. Mids, highs and lows work amazingly well. Wind and string instruments sound crisp, and suppurb! The lows/bass work harmoniously with the above mentioned. The Sennheiser equalizer is easy to use, and gets the job done. Touch controls: they take getting used to, but, once you adapt, it works great. Yes, at times you may pause music when touching the right ear cup, but again, you will adapt and recover. Comfort. These cans are extremely comfortable. Even for my large head. Ear cushions are comfy, as is the head cushion. Could it use more cushion? Maybe if you wear them for 8 hrs straight. Weight. Yes, they way a tad bit more than the competition, but, that is to be expected as the battery is slightly larger…hence why you can get up to 60hrs of life on these bad boys! The cans don’t feel cheap, they feel solid. And that is something I can appreciate. Are these cans perfect? They are as close to perfect that you will get (IMHO) on Bluetooth headsets. Are there better cans out there? Sure, If you go wired, and spend a few hundred more, then yes. Even Sennheiser wired headsets (depending what model you get) are better, but that’s because they are wired. Of course they will sound better. One thing I didn’t discuss is noise canceling. They get the job done in fine fashion. I have tried the Sony 5s, and they are slightly better than the Senn 4s. I have made several phones calls, FaceTime calls and the voice activation works wonderfully! I am 7000+ miles away from home, and not one complaint on how I sound, or, how the other end sounds. Lastly, battery life. It claims you can get 60hrs of life once fully charged. That is a fact, as I have tested that claim and 59+ hours the first charge, not quite there for the second charge. Mind you, it will lose an hour or two depending on what you have activated.Accessories. Well, you can listen to these cans wired, especially if you run out of charge. You will need a dongle (I purchased one from Amazon) and they sound great. It will sound different, and you may need to adjust you equalizer. The case the cans come with is a solid, good quality case with charging type C cable, 3.5 wired jack, and an airplane adaptor to plug your cable into so you can listen to movies or music that the plane is playing. And it all is neatly stored within the case.Final thoughts:I honestly feel that alot of the issues that some people reviewed on Amazon is these headsets have “buggy” issues, or connectivity issues. Perhaps some just don’t know how to do firmware updates, the phone they are using is dated? Not sure, all I know is mine cans fired right up, and I did the update straight away. These cans have Bluetooth 5.2, so it should be able to connect to any device that’s out there currently. Yes, touch panel does take some getting used to. Much like driving a truck, then driving a sport car. It may take a moment to get familiar with the vehicle, but once you do, it’s a piece of cake.I decided to take a chance, I did my research outside of Amazon reviews, and watched the pros on YouTube, and that’s how I ended up buying these. Big risk considering I am a world away. Give em a try, you can always return them if they aren’t for you.
