I love this RÃDE Phone Cage Magnetic Cage!I have tested two other cages, and what sets this RÃDE cage apart is the quick, sturdy and simple magnetic mount. This makes it so easy to put your phone in the enclosure, shoot, and then put your phone away or use it… I have RÃDE mics, and I have come to know the company for making great products. They live up to their reputation with this well designed and manufactured cage.The cage has 3/8-inch and 1/4-inch threads, plus cold shoe mounts, so you can attache a mic, light, external drive (I am using a CFexpress at the moment to get the most out of an iPhone 15 Pro).The cage helps steady shots and adds so much flexibility with how you can mix and match accessories.I am very impressed with this cage and I won’t leave the studio without it.

A while back I got a case for my iPhone 15 Pro Max with shoe mounts and threaded mounts all over but it had one fatal flaw which bummed me out, there was no backing on it to protect the back of my phone. So I couldn’t use it confidently for fear of breaking my phone’s back glass, whether while shooting or just in transport. I could have swapped cases when needed but I didn’t really like the idea of that either as once I get a phone it goes into a case and never comes out until I trade it in to make sure that it stays in pristine condition.So when I saw this I was very curious to see just how good it is in terms of comfort to hold, strength of both the build and the magnet, and how versatile the cage is in terms of adaptability. Well first off the thing is exteremely strong feeling and while I don’t plan on dropping it ever I am not afraid of it breaking or becoming damaged, and the magnet has a very strong pull even through my phones thick teflon case which is a great relief to me, I had to shake it up and down with the phone facing the floor pretty hard for a good 20 seconds before the phone became dislodged and believe never would I be doing that while shooting video so I am not sure of any use case scenario that might actually cause that to occur. Second the comfort is great as is. I can comfortably hold the cage by the sides or top and bottom depending on what I am trying to shoot and have great control over the shot, but also with the threaded holes on all sides you can easily attach grips anywhere to this for added comfort or control if you want it.Lastly versatility, there are shoe mounts on the top and bottom on both the left and right so you can mount lights, mics etc. in 4 different places depending on your preference. Then there are a total of 31 threaded holes on this thing for any other accessories you might wish to attach, so I would say it is pretty versatile lol. I don’t even know if I have 31 accessories I could attach! Just kidding, I know I don’t.I set this up with my iPhone, my R0DE wireless mic, shotgun mic, shoe mounted light and loved the way it felt, the control of each shot, and the look of the video after.I would absolutely recommend this to everyone looking to get more out of filming with a phone.

These days our phones can take very good quality videos and photos if you have the right equipment, and having this RÃDE Phone Cage is the perfect start to achieving that level of video you are striving for.Itâs also very easy to attach any accessories you want including tripods, a microphone, and lighting of some kind. The cage as a whole is very sturdy and thick, but itâs not heavy. And the handles are comfortable and have a good grip to them. All in all itâs definitely pricy, but itâs the best option I have found to date that makes it possible to film with a cage and with my MagSafe phone case still on.Itâs definitely pricy, but the quality and ease of use makes it worth it in my opinion. Since this is MagSafe compatible this phone cage is as simple as you can get if you own an iPhone that is MagSafe compatible. And surprisingly the magnet for the MagSafe seams to be a bit stronger somehow so I have not had any issues with my phone sliding off like I do with some of the MagSafe accessories available.
