A bargin set of earbuds
Update from March 2024 – just get better. So revisiting this set of earbuds now they’ve had a couple of firmware updates and have done a few tests comparing the capabilities of the buds on a new phone using AptX Adaptive.First, the bluetooth signal strength and stability to maintain high bitrate in Adaptive mode on these is incredible. Literally i can walk from the front of my house to standing on our back door step (about 7-8 metres through 3 walls) and they’re still coping with high bitrate. My other buds fail (downgrade to low mode) a good couple of meters sooner.Secondly these sound even better with AptX Adaptive. Using the Olaf boosted EQ profile with a couple tweaks these are so incredibly fun to listen to. Especially if you’re into EDM with that classic V profile of thumping bass and lots of treble. These just are so much fun to listen with.Only downside is the ANC performance is definitely the weakest part of the entire package. THey just don’t knock the ambient noise down by as much and the highest pitch sounds like keyboard clacking in an office just don’t get pulled out much. So i’d say ANC is a “could do better” but the rest of the package is great————————————————-Original review from Oct:Headline summary — brilliant bargainWhat’s in the box:EarbudsUSB-C 10cm cable6 sets of tips: Med fitted but 2 smaller and 2 larger sets by the looks of it. Plus a set of foamies loose in the bag separate3 sets of stablise bands (small, large and flat)InstructionsCharging case is small and pocket friendly. Less chunky than the Senn MTW3 and similar thickness to Samsung Galaxy FE case but widerThe case opens nice and wide (slightly over 90° open lid) making them easy to get in and out. Features Qi Wireless charging which is a nice feature bizarrely lacking from buds costing 5x the price (Bose looking at you!)Usual pairing process once you’ve peeled away the tape blocking the charge ports and let them initialise. Either can be done in-app or just in settings.AppYou can update firmware, customise buttons (both sides indepdent and from a good list of options), EQ, which comes with a bunch of presets including Oluv’s natural and boosted EQ’s (more later), options for codec (aptx adaptive available), mic options, voice, and a find buds option. Simple and clean app, nice and responsive. Perfectly functionalANCI’d say theyr’e probably the worst out of the 3 i’ve got here but it’s still enough to drop white noise down a few dB but it’s nowhere near as capable as some more expensive buds. It’s definitely passable when out and about. The firmware update you get on launch of the app (0.2.0 at the time) adds a wind-noise feature which seems to be the in-vogue feature.FitInitially used the small tips and large wings and they fit fine but still i find the need for a shallower overall fit to get the best experience for me so i switched to my goto Spinfit CP1025 TWS tips and the buds are immensely comfortable. Almost no pressure in any spot. The wings adds the security but are very soft silicone and flex so they really don’t pressure your ears. With the tips switched improving my fit i get a good boost in bass too.SoundThe EarFun signature sound is “ok”. Nothing special but perfectly fine. I immediately tried Oluv’s 2 pre-sets and it really wakes these things up in a big way.The “Oluv Boosted” EQ adds that more V feel. But for me it did push the bass a little bit too boomy for me on some tracksSub bass is present and solid. I took the Oluv boosted preset and knocked the bass down 1 notch on the 1st two points and it eased off the boominess plus i pushed up the top end a little as i felt it lacked a little bit of aireness. Am talking EDM / Drum’n’Bass music here — for most other things it’s ok. But backing off the bass a touch on the boosted EQ was the sweetspot for me.They’re a fun set and for the money they punch above their weight. I think my MTW3 are better still and handle things a little tidier and give me a little more detail but i think for the asking price these are a great casual set. I’ll spend some time with the EQ on these and see what i can manage but out of the box with minimal fuss you have a solid fun set of earbuds for a super competitive price. I think they definitely compete strongly with the Samsung Galaxy Buds FE which are a good 30% more expensive. The ANC is definitely similar and AptX adaptive being present means more options for better audio than the limit of Samsung SSCThese are a solid value prop.

So far so good
Been using for just over a week now and I have to say these are pretty good for the price. I legitimately haven’t charged the case once since I bought them and have gotten at least 25 hours so far no problem. Most importantly, NO HISSING!!! With other earbuds at this price range I’d get a constant “hissing” sound whenever the audio would be engaged and people would just blame it on me “having a high range of hearing” or something, but I’m happy to say that these have no hissing. The app is fine. It asks for an “account” when you open it but it’s easy to skip. Touch controls again but I just disabled them since I don’t really like them on any earbuds. The audio passthrough and active noise cancellation seem to be completely useless for me though, but it shouldn’t be something at this price range anyway. The fit is fine. I had some issues initially but they seem to stay in fine now. They have a nice shape to them that fills the ear. My old earbuds (galaxy buds) really jutted out but these are very snug.I love the material on the case. The feel of it is just amazing. The only problems I’ve had with these is that sometimes one side would randomly stop playing audio for a bit, but it seems to happen really rarely, and the app can be a bit slow sometimes. The ear tips that come with it are also of a noticeably low quality, as well as the box being hideous for some reason lol.I was skeptical to buy a brand I didn’t know at this price range but it’s turned out to be great. I can’t say much to their durability yet but I’ll update my review if anything happens in the next few years.Edit: After using for over a month the only problem is that very rarely the connection drops. We’re talking once or twice in a week, and it’s usually only one side and it’s easily fixed by just disabling and enabling Bluetooth on my phone. The app is okay; a bit slow but I basically never have to open it since all the settings are properly saved

6mo Update: Raised the rating to a 5 because of the great customer support that backed up the warranty with no hesitation. I had some issues with Ambient and ANC mode, reached out, and they offered some advice to help fix it. I tried it out, and it lessened the issues but didnât fix them 100%. So they sent a replacement that arrived in a day or two; no further questions asked. If youâre interested in these, get them.Original Review:If I could, I would give these a 4.5. I’ve had these for about 2 months now, and use them almost every day.In short, I don’t want another pair of earbuds, and these are almost perfect for me. From the sound quality, to the customization of buds, to the app, the EQ, and the case, these buds should be more popular than they are. They’re the most functional buds I’ve ever owned, and I love them I might just propose to them. But they do have some cons that seem like an oversight for $80. Luckily for me, I got it on a discount with a promo code and a free case. And, at the discounted price, I’d immediately recommend it. But, to be fair, I’ll compare it to my last earbuds of 2 years – the JLab Go Air Pop.Pros:- Great Sound QualityI’ll go more into detail in the next point. But, with or without adjusting the EQ, the sound quality is great. Not just for the price, but great in general. Now, with the EQ, the sound quality definitely lives up to the cliche of “immersive.” Arguably, the best sounding buds I’ve ever used.- The App: EQFirst and foremost, the app works exceptionally well. It connects to the buds and the case quickly, and it functions exactly how you expect it to.Now,The EQ…Best EQ I’ve ever used. And you can clearly hear every change you make from the highs to the low. The bass lives up to the reviews, but the mids and highs sound just as great. On top of that, you can name and save multiple EQ presets, adjust old ones and save them as new ones, AND you still have access to about 10+ other presets that come with the app.Personally, I don’t want a lot of bass in my songs. So I love that I have the option to lower it manually, or change my mind and raise it up.My advice is, once you get the buds and the app, get your 3 favorite songs/audiobooks/podcast (a combo of 3. Or 3 of each, I’m not your daddy,) and adjust the EQ for each one, and save each one separately….you can also just use the presets that come with it, but I want my earbuds to sound like they’re *mine*.- Ambient ModeI work in a loud warehouse, so I need these partially to protect my eardrums. Thing is, if I have these in to lessen the sound of the warehouse, then I can’t fully hear when I need to talk to someone. That’s where my favorite mode – Ambient Mode – comes in. I can hear everything around me while listening to music/audiobooks. I need to try it out more in conversations. But it works great, and honestly better than I expect at times. I currently have it set up to where, if I tap the left bud once, I switch from normal mode to ambient.- The App & CustomizationIn my opinion, the app ups the value of these buds by ALOT. The fact that you can start customizing almost everything about the earphones, in less than 3 seconds of the app connecting to the buds, makes the user experience so much more engaging and personal. With the four different tap options per bud, a quick tap takes me to my most used feature (Play/Pause), and double taps adjust the volume. I can connect the buds to two or more devices at once, and switch what I’m listening to just by pressing play.- Stays in the earWhether I’m running, jump-roping, squat hop, doing boxing drills, etc., they stay in. Now, to be fair, YMMV depending on the ear tips you use (more on this in the Cons list,) but they work great for me. Because of the weight of the JLabs, I would constantly have to adjust them.- Great Battery Life + Charges QuicklyI work 9-12 hour shifts doing an extraordinarily repetitive and boring job. If I don’t have something to listen with, I will clock out and go home. Not exaggerating. The great thing about these buds is that, in my experience, the buds alone last around 9.5 hours on a single charge. And a good 20 minutes in the case gets me to the end of my shift. The battery life is less than the JLab Go Air Pop, but that’s to be expected with the size difference. The case itself lasts about 2-3 work days, and will fully charge in about 40-60 minutes.- Smallest profile than most earbuds I’ve usedI originally found out about Earfun by looking up earbuds for small ears. Now, to be honest, these don’t fit fully snug into my ears (because I also have very small ear canals,) but they are the smallest and best fitting buds I’ve ever used.- The Earfun Free Pro 3 protective case is a must-buy imoThis makes my life so much easier. By clipping the case onto my keys, I can make sure I never have to worry about my earphones falling out of my pocket, or forgetting my keys.Cons:- Provided ear tips do not provide a good seal, and they hurt after awhileWith the JLabs, I didn’t need ANC because (I assume) the weight and design would push the buds into my ears, causing a great seal. That plus the tips made it to where I never had to think about the lack of ANC. But the Earfun ear tips are fairly thin and flimsy, which seems to play a part in a bad noise seal. The only exception to this is the foam, but that leads me to the next issue: All of the ear tips hurt my ears after a few weeks of use. On the plastic tips, there’s a ridge that seem to scratch the skin after awhile. The ear wings also have this ridge, but I’ve only ran into this issue once. This led to me using ear tips from other brands.- The “Find Headphones” feature is just a loud soundWhich is great. But, I was hoping for a bluetooth tracker that would help me find my buds in case I miss placed them. It would be great if both could be added in the Free Pro 4.- ANC is just okThe Active Noise Cancellation is good in certain scenarios. But there are some frequencies of noises that will still cut through. This, along with the “eh” ear tips, makes for ANC that is honestly just better than nothing. Even with the 4 in-app options, I personally like using normal mode more than ANC.What I’d Like To See In the Free Pro 4:- Better quality and more comfortable ear tipsPersonally, I still use the HTC One M7 wired earbuds’ ear tips. The phone came out back in ~2013, but the tips still work well for my ear. I would also like an even smaller ear tip option, but that might be a lot to ask.- The option to lower the volume of Ambient Mode in the appI love this mode, but sometimes itâs too loud to have on all the time. The problem is, if you need to hear your surroundings at a moment’s notice, you have to wait for the ANC mode to load, then wait for Normal mode to load. I wish I could go in the app, adjust the volume of the ambient noise, and then had…- The option to choose which audio modes you switch betweenIt would be great if I could only switch between Normal & Ambient, or ANC & Ambient, instead of having to skip past a mode that I rarely use.- Improved ANCI think improving the ear tip quality alone could improve the effect of the ANC. But, as it is right now, I almost never use this mode. With all that said, if the Earfun Free Pro 4 addresses all of these issues, I would buy it immediately at full price. As for the 3’s, it’s sitting next to me right now.

I bought the product for the in-ear grip. There are very few brands who make earbuds with this feature. Iâve actually wasted a lot of my money to get, Call Quality, Built Size, Built Design, Weight, Sound Quality and most importantly the Grip which holds the device in its place no matter what. It wont slip out of the ear/s. Customization is at another level. Includes volume control too 🙂 Includes equiliser and you can customize it per your style of listning music! I cant believe its got just 7mm drivers and YES this can be literally called Dynamic Drivers and rest just mention but NO dynamicâ¦lol Thumpy bass and crystal trible. Suppiorts Lossless music. What else would a music lover want? I loved Earfun Free Pro 3. Iâm sure I wont be wasting any more money.

Coole Sache.
