Relaxing way to groom
My dog is scared of everything. So taking her to the groomer is a stress-inducing event of epic proportions! Please see pics from before and after using these scissors. Here’s why I love this item:1. They are quiet. So quiet that my dog had a little nap while I was clipping her.2. No electrical outlet needed. So I can clip my dog wherever she feels most comfortable.3. Sharp. It would be difficult to hurt the dog when used properly. But don’t use your fingers to remove fur from the blades. Ouch!4. Cost effective5. Item claims to have a life-time guarantee6. Super cute carry case7. Safe. Unlike electric clippers, there is no fear of nicking the dog’s skin or the blades overheating.8. Can choose the size of the safety guard for shorter or longer trims.9. Fool proof! Easy-to-follow instructions provided.I imagine my grooming skills will improve with time! But even if they don’t, I’m still extremely pleased with my dog’s new look. And most importantly, it was a fear-free and stress-free experience. 🙂

Finally managed to groom my dog
This product has been great to use for my dog who I previously couldn’t cut due to the noise of clippers. Item is good however I do feel it is a bit over priced. The grade attachments are of cheap quality. The scissors them selves seem well made but I am not sure how ming they sharpness will last.

Simple but brilliant!
Had huge sucess with these. I have 3 Bichon Frise I groom myself. I usually use clippers as I am not talented enough to do a Bichon cut with ordinary scissors, but these made it a doddle ! Clippers are not really suitable now so I was pleased to find these- my elderly dog has delicate skin with age warts, my young dog hates them and the puppy won’t keep still! If possible I’d advise to wash and dry the fur straight beforehand as this gives a much better result if you have a curly fur dog but you can still get good results by brushing and then dry trimming.I used these great little scissors to trim the body, belly, chest and legs – the bulk of the work – then finished off using ordiary scissors to shape the face, back of the neck and round the feet. The results were great on all 3 but especially on the young dog who went from being ‘grooming time devil dog’ to ‘puppy angel’.The scissors are good quality for the price and they can be sharpened. The attachement combs are basic plastic (a metal option would be nice) but they are up to the job and stay firmly on the scissors whilst cutting. Really pleased with my purchase as it has made grooming time a lot easier for me and the dogs.

Guard plate snapped off after a few uses
The product was fantastic for our terrified terrier and we thought it was perfect. However, the plate that you fit the grooming guard too snapped off after just a few uses. Itâs a metal plate and looks like it was soldered on but it broke clean off. I have asked for a replacement or repair but have heard nothing back and that was months ago

OK
Safer than using scissors on the dog but it is very sharp and I cut myself putting the guard on. At the end of the day it does what a pair of scissors does only more evenly but its a slow process I will use it along with the machine I usually use, its good for cutting around the head

Very well thought out item
I’ve been very impressed with the quality and design of this product. Included in the kit are specially adapted scissors and several comb guards allowing various lengths of cut. The scissors feel sturdy, solid and they cut well. There are no sharp points – they have a straight (top) and rounded (bottom) which allow me to feel more confident when using. I like the removable gel inserts from the thumb and finger for comfort and I think the colour is a great idea (I bought the pink ones) as they show up very well in my cat’s fur. I’ve been using the scaredy cut on my long haired elderly cat. Unfortunately, he is no longer keen on being groomed but with the help of the scaredy cut I’ve managed to remove mats without causing him distress and importantly not hurt him. The comb guards help with this task and clip on and off easily. I’ve used the scissors with the comb guards to trim his hair where he has the potential for mats to form thereby preventing new ones from forming. This was remarkably quick to achieve (and easier/safer than my pet scissors alone) which is helpful in keeping him calm and relaxed. The comb guards are made of study plastic and are robust. I’ve been very pleased with my purchase. I purchased the scaredy cut after returning a set of https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wahl-Multi-Mains-Clipper-Instructional/dp/B000PTQ5HS/ref=cm_cr_dp_asin_lnk to Amazon since they were far too noisy and vibrated powerfully in my hand! There’s no way I would have been able to clip my cat with the electric clippers and I was very worried about ripping his delicate skin (as this is a risk with such clippers). I think the scaredy cut is a very sensible option for achieving the same ends. Thank you for designing such a practical product and giving my cat some comfort in his twilight years. Given my experience, I wish I had the scaredy cut when my two west highland terriers were alive as it would have been absolutely perfect for them. The supplier/designer of the product is also keen to support which is a nice touch. The videos are very helpful and instructive which all help provide a safe grooming stress-fee (for cat and ‘cat’s staff’) experience.

Pour les chiens craintifs que la tondeuse terrorise, c’est le top !Travail propre et facile à utiliser, forcément plus long qu’à la tondeuse mais chien décontracté c’est génial !

I just received the Scaredy-cut clippers yesterday (Wed, June 5th) and immediately set to work on my Maine Coon cat for about an hour; a challenge when your cat has 3-inch hair and a thick undercoat!BOTTOM LINE: I loved the idea (as did she) but didn’t like the scissors itself very much. They seemed dull. I watched three demo videos on the how-to’s so I know I was following the instructions as best as I could. And I tried the cuts using the longest 1″ head on the clippers, meaning I had less hair per chop, so that should have made it even easier.I took very small tufts of fur to cut each time, yet it still typically took me 3-4 chops with the Scaredy-cut scissors to cut through the fur. When I used our older barber scissors with her fur, it cut through the fur and undercoat like butter; one cut easily did the job each time. This confirmed to me that these Scaredy-Cut scissors need to be sharper. It could be that my pair of Scardey-Cut scissors are just defective or that these scissors are not meant to be used on long-haired cats with thick undercoats… but since the most-helpful review and the company owner, Matthew, both have Maine Coons, and use Scaredy Cut with great success, I suspect the problem is either with how I’m cutting or this particular pair of scissors I’m using.Again, I think the idea is awesome as my Maine Coon is very skittish when it comes to noises, so electric clippers were out. And she purred the entire time, thinking she was getting a lengthy massage!I *AM* impressed by the company’s quick and thoughtful responses to customer concerns. Thank you for that, Matthew. -TerryPS: to be fair to the company, if I find I am cutting her hair wrongly with the scissors or that the scissors are merely defective and another pair fixes the problem, I will immediately come here and edit this review and up the star rating. I WANT this company to succeed!__________________________________________________EDIT: Amazing. Within hours of posting this review, Matthew of Scaredy Cut had contacted me AND mailed me a replacement pair of scissors to try out. Now *that* is some impressive customer service!**************************************************EDIT 22 March 2013: I’ve now had these scissors 9 months and used them to trim my Maine Coon’s hair 3 times. Each time it gets a little easier and I’m faster at it. The secret is to have scissors that are tight (I had to have mine replaced) and to take my time. Cut small tufts at first and not too deep. Make more than one pass. Follow the video. It works. I cut her hair today down to the undercoat and evened out the fur and brushed her in less than an hour (this is on a VERY LARGE 14 lbs female cat!) … and she looks pretty good. And that is taking her fur from 3 inches down to about 1/2 inch (except for her head, cowl and tail, which I didn’t touch).BOTTOM LINE: They work and get the job done and my cat purrs the entire time.I will add that the scissors could be sharper, hence why the rating is only 4 star. They aren’t barber-quality scissors and the thumb hole is too small for me. So I take my time and give my thumb a rest. But this is a LOT cheaper than taking the cat to a groomer, if she’d even allow it, which I doubt. My wish is this idea but with thin barber-quality scissors like we use to cut human hair, but that would seriously raise the price as such scissors are expensive. So for the money, THESE ARE GREAT! And EVERY email or inquiry is answered quickly. They bend over backwards to make you happy. Seriously!________________________________________Nov 26, 2014 EDIT:The company upgraded the scissors and asked me to try them out… Wow. MUCH sharper! These scissors, service and idea get 5 STARS from me now. A breeze to cut my Maine Coon’s incredibly long hair and dense undercoat. I highly recommend these scissors to anyone who wants to trim their cat or dog’s hair. The scissors work. My cat would *never* put up with electric clippers so this idea has been a savior for me. Thanks.

The first time I received the product there was an issue with its effectiveness in actually cutting the hair. The scissors have an adjustable knob to create more or less pressure between the blades cutting edges. For some reason it was just not giving me the results I expected. The company reached out after my return to inquire. Through the messages I could see this smaller business was really invested in their product and genuinely cared for the feedback and opportunity to âmake it rightâ. With the arrival of a replacement, I was able to put it to use this week. It was much better this time around! My guy is getting much more sensitive in his older age and has never really enjoyed our grooming sessions. As dogs age out they tend to get a bit lumpy and bumpy. This product is very helpful in avoiding those trouble areas with clippers and still achieving an accurate cut. We find it especially helpful on his small sensitive legs. As a DIY pet owner itâs simplicity in design and effectiveness was just what I needed. To be honest I have, over the years, tried to rig up something similar at times of frustration. Not knowing what to even search for to locate an item like this and not seeing it (at the time) on any group platforms as a common tool of the trade. I am extremely pleased with both the product and the customer service support provided. The only thing I could add as a comment for âimprovementâ would be to have an option to purchase ONLY the scissor element of the product. While my main use of the scissors is rounding out his legs I struggle to only use the right handed pair as my hands tire and it is difficult to maneuver around legs when I am in a stationary set up. I may not be explaining myself well but regardless of my issues the product itself is of good and useful quality. Their care and dedication to âmaking it rightâ and providing a useful tool to ease the task of grooming was a sign of a quality company. Give it a try if you DIY. Your pooch will thank you.
